I am not sure why or how people are giving one star reviews based on a DVD and NOT based on the ACTUAL SHOW!! As a fan of the novels (I have read these books more than once) I can say this show is great! I was so excited when it released in the USA. I have to say that it follows the books fairly well. There are always things missing, always things astray when book to film adaptations. The only thing I did not agree with was the casting of Ysabeau de Clermont. And that is NOT to say that I don't LOVE Lindsey Duncan. She certainly fits the fierceness of Ysabeau. It's just she is the absolute physical opposite of the characterization found in the books. She is supposed to be young and have dark black hair. Her physical appearance was shown as more of a sibling than a mother. I was just thrown off by it! Besides that the show is great so far. I will be watching it on repeat for a while, and cannot wait for season 2!

I’m so mad about this they really need to tell you it won’t work in the USA I would like to send it back but I don’t know how to send it back. I’m so sad about it.

This can only be viewed in a non Region DVD player. If you don't have one then don't buy it. I however do and it worked perfectly in my player. I love how between each episode they play the preview from the last. Just as if you were watching it live. I can't wait for the second season to come out.

Doesn't play in the US. So sad!

Am vastly cross! The description states, "needs/requires a multi-region player." The two bluray discs do not play in my 2 multi-system region free players, whatsoever! "This bluray will play back on region B players only ", keeps popping up! I've obtained a few blurays from UK here on Amazon, and they work on my multi-region 3D/Bluray players. But these 2 discs don't! My wife was so excited to receive this item, A Discovery of Witches, from Zoverstocks, esp. the standard S/H was 2 weeks. Adding to it, my wife loves the story or book of A Discovery of Witches. It is "5 STARS". However, if I could opt no star at all, for the bluray discs which don't play in my multi-region bluray players, I'd do that, because of my wife's disappointment, and I lost over $24, due to this, as well.

You should have said what region code this dvd is, because I can’t play it on my machine. Very disappointed at the incomplete information.

First, for those who can't get the disc to play in multi-region players--you have to turn the player off and then on using the Region B button, which is blue for my Sony player. I got the error message too but a simple troubleshoot worked for me.

As for the series, I found the book to be an incredibly lame Twilight rip off and the DVD doesn't disappoint: it's equally lame with a MC even more annoying than Bella Swan. (So much for hoping they'd change it enough to make it palatable.)

The "actress" who plays Diana is awful but even a stellar performer couldn't have saved this Mary Sue. The acting overall was pedantic and the premise was a total snooze. This book and series contains every trope known to literary works and then some.

As with Edward and Bella, vampire Matthew is instantly addicted to Mary Sue Diana. This character lacks depth and a backbone just as this story lacks originality.

Don't waste your time.

Very disappointed that it was not clearly stated that it could not play in US. Returned.
