This is a great plan--but you need to know how it works. I bought an expensive mouse from Amazon and bought this for protection. During the first year, while under warranty, something minor went wrong, and found Asurion WILL NOT repair or replace any item under the manufacturer's warranty. After the second year, after the warranty had expired I accidentally damaged the wheel, so I contacted Asurion. YOU NEED TO GO TO ORDERS, AND SEARCH FOR YOUR ITEM AS WELL AS THE ASURION CONTRACT because they need both order numbers to start your claim. I STARTED BY CLAIM BY TALKING TO AN AGENT and was so disappointed because they kept asking if I have contacted the manufacturer 1st. I gave up and continued my claim via chat, which was SMOOTH. Once an item is older and obviously out of warranty, it seems no one should question it; the CHAT AGENT quickly approved replacement. They emailed a return label for pre-paid UPS return of the item, THEN issued an AMAZON credit code via email covering the original cost (but not the tax) AFTER they received my item. Everything was slick and easy about the process --EXCEPT THE LIVE AGENT--which I won't bother with next time. I was informed that the replacement is ONLY GOOD ONCE. So after receiving my new mouse--I bought another contract.

This was not an easy machine to learn, but I tried different things and used tech support when I needed to. Where it came in handy was help with cost of the ink cartridges. They're over $160! Anyway, I have been happy with the purchase and highly recommend it.

The confirmation email that I got from Asurion seems to imply that basically you are covered for damage done by a power surge, and that's about it. If your product is still under warranty, then it seems that you need to go through the manufacturer if there is a product failure. Also, I read the first 2 pages of 5 star reviews, and NONE OF THEM stated that they used the insurance. All the 5 star reviews on the first 2 pages stated that they were glad to have the insurance, NOT that they actually used it. As far as I'm concerned, those 5 star reviews that I read could be fake, or at least are worthless reviews because they don't confirm that a claim was made. I think that I just wasted my money for nothing.

I was sure—SURE—that I would have to fight them on this. I bought a gaming mouse that had given me issues before, but the issues didn't start until after the original warranty wore out. Sure enough, the exact same thing happened less than a couple months past the warranty, but I prepared for it this time.
I figured Asurion would make me send them the mouse and they would jerk me around and pretend that it was my fault or something stupid like that... You know, like insurance companies do to you. But they trusted me when I told them that I'd gone through all of the troubleshooting steps with this mouse before and that I knew what I was talking about and in less than an hour of talking to customer service, I was issued a refund for the device.
I'm honestly surprised. I was sure I wasted my 10 bucks on what was essentially a scam, but they came through and with no hassle at all. They gave me what I needed to send it back to them at no cost and then refunded me the amount for the mouse. I highly recommend them!

Most important tip: when you get the email from Asurion, select "Edit as a new email" or your equivalent email programs title and change the subject line to read the specific item your covering, e.g., 'men's purse model 2764e by Xperia bought on 030421 till 030425'. You'll never forget what product you've got a warranty plan on and for how long again!
Second most important tip: create a separate folder in your Local Folders Account and store all warranty info and emails there. Same reason as above.
I like Asurion over the other guys because their claims process is fair and reasonable in my actual use experience. And when we've agreed on a claim, its paid fast; I like that, too. Lastly, more often than not, the base price of their policies is much less expensive and lack the conditions that their competitors impose.
For these reasons, and given a choice, I always go with Asurion.

I purchased this protection plan for a Typecase iPad case and keyboard. The case got great reviews, but since this was my first experience with one I thought the plan might be a good idea. An anticipated incident happened with the case. My iPad in the case slipped from my hands and was damaged. I contacted the seller through and promptly received instructions on how to proceed. I was instructed to print a return label and bring it to the UPS store. A day after I returned the case, I received an Amazon gift card and was able to replace the case. You’d better believe I purchased a protection plan for the new case.

Covered a shredder that broke within the four years of coverage. Called and gave all my information. They emailed a return label sent the shredder back and not to long after they received it they issued full credit. So just bought a different shredder and took out another policy. I feel It’s worth the money.

I purchased this to cover a new caption phone. I have never used these phones and they only come with a year warranty. For the cost of this warranty I will not have to purchase another caption phone for quite a while. Either the phone will last past the warranty or the warranty will pay for a new phone. Either way, the warranty is a reasonable cost in this case. Of course some items will not require a warranty or some warranties are too costly and you are better off not purchasing the warranty. Each case is different. I would recommend or purchase a warranty when warranted.

Contacted Asurion for assistance with a new Panasonic cordless phone system. Handsets functioned sporadically and after hours of attempted set up I called Asurion which I had purchased along with the phone. Jake was exceptional: patientl, helpful, efficient and knowledgeable. And even had a sense of humor. After several fact-finding steps and attempted solutions he determined the unit was defective and clearly explained the return options. Best service ever; highly recommended.
