I bought this insurance for Bluetooth earbuds purchased in October 2021. In November 2022, the right earbud went completely dead, outputting no sound at all. The claim process was fairly simple: I searched my email history for "Asurion" and found the email they sent when I purchased the plan. I clicked a link to start my claim, which seemed to be a completely automated process. UPS dropped off a shipping label the next business day and I shipped the broken headphones to Asurion. Several days later I got an email from Asurion with an Amazon gift card for the purchase price of the headphones.
My only gripe with the insurance is that you can only cash-in on it once. If you buy a 3 year protection plan and your product breaks in one year, the extra two years don't automatically apply to the replacement product you buy. You have to buy a brand new plan for the new headphones you buy.
There was no need for me to deal with their tech personnel as my item was clearly not able to be repaired and I didn't use their mobile app.
