SO if something breaks that is not covered by the original warranty, you have to wait the ENTIRE YEAR (or longer) for the Asurion warranty to start,.
TOTAL scam, just sit with your broken product for 9 more months, then you can use the warranty you paid extra for?
The TV died on a Saturday night. We called Asurion Sunday morning. After a brief interview, the representative told us to expect a shipping kit to arrive in 3-5 business days. It arrived Friday with straightforward instructions and everything we needed. We delivered the TV to UPS that day.
Asurion received the TV the next Wednesday and quickly determined that it could not be repaired.
The next day, we received via email an Amazon gift card for the original purchase price of the TV. That gift card could be spent any way we chose, but we chose to buy a new TV and a new Asurion extended warranty to cover it.
Based on this experience I would recommend purchasing the insurance provided by Asurion. I would have had to pay much more without having it.
