5.0 out of 5 stars For the price, unbeatable… read on!
By Vlad on June 29, 2022
The tagline for the 10th gen Fire 7 is “Tiny price, big fun” and I gotta admit, whoever came up with that, nailed it. It is tiny but it works great. Here is the thing, know what to expect and you won’t be disappointed.

Positives:

-The new Fire OS is a significant improvement. It is closer to current android, and it is intuitive-ish if you have used an Android phone before.

- The processing power and the responsiveness improvement is significant when compared to the previous gen. The promotional material states that it is 30% faster and after trying it, I agree.

- Live view on another Amazon device, using specific skills like Ring or WYZE, using Alexa, in general having this as a portable automation control at your fingertips, works very well.

- Still has a headphone jack.

- Lots of battery time.

- Supports up to 1TB microSD card. Running it with 256GB just fine.

- Made with environmentally conscious materials.

- Voice control is as good as with any other Amazon device.

- Still works great for reading your E-books and browsing the web. This review was written in it, btw.

Negatives:

- A lot of the same negatives of the previous Gen. Screen Resolution? Still 1024X600. Memory? Still 16GB, maybe 32GB if you cough up another 20$, which I did.

- No fast charge means that given that the battery is larger than the previous model, the charge time is also longer.

Other thoughts:

I intend to use this tablet as my portable hub for my amazon devices; so far it works great for that. I did a bit of streaming and internet browsing and it works great for that too, albeit the resolution could definitely better, which I knew coming in. It is significantly faster than its predecessor.
Given that I like the previous one, I am pleased. Don’t get me wrong, I would prefer to have a better resolution or more memory on the starting model or maybe even better speakers (plural), but Amazon improved the model significantly in another area (performance) without significantly affecting the price. Thus, while it is not perfect, I give it five stars.

TLDR; The new fire 7 is FIRE. Worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect For Reading (And Watching Reality TV)
By Erik on July 2, 2022
For years, I was using my 2017 iPad for reading eBooks.

As a self-proclaimed bookworm, there were days I'd spend 5+ hours reading - and needless to say - holding up a clunky iPad for extended periods was less-than-ideal. I began browsing the market a few months ago for a smaller, lighter device that I could dedicate to reading eBooks and watching the occasional Netflix show or Hulu rom-com.

My folks both have the 2019 Fire 7, and although the size is perfect, I was never particularly impressed with the overall package (read: slow performance and poor battery life).

Enter: The 2022 Fire 7 Tablet

Finally! An updated version of Amazon's smallest and most portable Fire tablet. I pre-ordered one and eagerly awaited its arrival on the release date.

It's now been 3 days and I can confidently say that this new Fire 7 is exactly what I was looking for.

First, size and weight:
This Fire 7 is way smaller and lighter than my old, tired iPad. I can hold it for hours with no strain. I fly almost weekly for work and it's a noticeable weight off my shoulders compared to the iPad (literally, I travel with a backpack).

Second, battery life:
It's excellent. This puppy goes on and on. Yesterday, I read 245 pages of an adorable YA M/M romance novel then watched several episodes of Selling Sunset (don't judge) and there's still 66% battery remaining. My iPad would've surely passed away by now.

Third, performance:
Well-suited for flipping through eBooks, browsing the Kindle store, perusing Goodreads, or watching low-end reality shows about real estate on Netflix. I'm certainly not a gamer so I can't speak to that, but for a basic user like myself, it's more than sufficient.

I'd also like to mention the phenomenon of expandable storage (gasp!). If you're like me and have used Apple products since the advent of technology, you're probably used to being trapped into purchasing set-in-stone device storage capacities. For 15 bucks, you can pop a 128GB MicroSD card into your Fire Tablet and download all five seasons of Selling Sunset. What a time to be alive.

Conclusion:
I'm glad I waited for this new Fire 7. It's small, portable, lightweight, and has great battery life. As someone who doesn't need anything crazy powerful, this device checks all my boxes. It's also nice to be able to expand the storage as-needed.

tl;dr: it's great. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same specs are fire 8 base.
By manny on June 29, 2022
I got this because the fire 7 has been upgraded from 1gb ram and a 1.3ghz quad core to 2 gb ram and the same 2.0ghz quad core the base model fire 8 hd has. It performs exactly the same except it has a 600p screen instead of the 720p screen.

I used it for Netflix and Hulu and it uses less data since it's streaming in standard definition but it doesn't look worse than 720p does on my 8 inch tablet. Since it's smaller it's also more pocketable.

I've been a big fan of gamepass and I launched it here from the website since the app itself is not supported and it was running smoothly and I didn't notice lag which I'm assuming the 600p stream helps vs the 1080p I use on my phone or larger tablets. I paired this with a controller and I had a blast. I also tried using my phone as a hotspot for when I'm outside and want to game stream and it was also using less data than normal since it's 600p.

If you already have used a 2020 fire 8 then you know what to expect in terms of performance. For the size it's pretty decent.
