They were not.
They are very sharp and well worth the money! We usually only buy name brand scissors (starts with an 'F' and is -the- brand for scissors), but I was tired of buying the expensive stuff only to have them 'walk off.' So! After extensive research, I bought these.
I know you're not supposed to use scissors this way, but I got my Mom to cut my hair with them and absolutely no complaints. Of course, they are still relatively new, but...I will try again in a few months after we've had time to use them in the 'appropriate' way and see what happens.
The blades are SHARP, not to pointing at the end so you don't have to worry about stabbing yourself, but sharp enough that you can slice wrapping paper or even thicker things in a single motion.
Handles are easy to grip. Hit the connection with a spray of WD40 (or vegetable oil) if they are pinched too tightly together.
You get three pairs of scissors in three different colors: purple and white, green and white, and gray and orange. The scissors measure just under 8.5" in length and are approximately 3" high. They feel really comfortable when holding them. I immediately claimed the purple pair, and my significant other grabbed the green pair.
It's nice to have a three pack as scissors always seem to "walk away" in our house never to be seen again. Cutting with these scissors is super comfortable. The grip is very firm when you hold it which gives you a perfect grip while cutting.
So far we have used these to cut sandpaper, copy paper, card stock, wrapping paper, fabric, human hair, and cardboard. The scissors handled each of these with great simplicity and it did not feel like I had to force the scissors to get them to work. They are very sharp so watch your fingers when cutting (I cut my finger).
I have replaced my rusty Westcott scissors with these Amazon Basics scissors and I think the Amazon Basics are my new favorite scissors. They are sharp, cut through a variety of items, and are bright, fun colors.
Scotch scissors: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P58CYG
In a nutshell, these are a decent pair of crafting/paper scissors. They are miles above any 1 buck or less pair, but they aren't going to shine in all areas. For fabric shears at a value, go for fiskars. For plastic and package cutting, I love my Wiss utility shears.
✫ I don't have large hands (5'2 female) and I can fit three fingers (pinkie to middle) in these and the few name brands listed below. The only thing that varies is how snug the fit is.
✫ The large hole on these is just a tad smaller than the Scotch precision 8" red/dark grey scissors.
✫ The hole on these is bigger than that on either the Scotch multipurpose red/light grey or the Westcott straight titanium grey/yellow (these being the smallest).
✫ Of all the aforementioned, the Amazon scissors are the only ones with a double beveled blade.
✫I was able to cut through a brochure roughly 8 pages thick with no problem using all the above brands.
✫I was also able to cut through some knit fabric with ease (though one should definitely not mix mediums. Use for paper OR fabric, but not both).
✫ Basically, they all cut virtually the same. Blade lengths and shapes are different, as are the handles, so those are probably the only notable differences you could use to steer your decision on which to buy.

The reality is that they’re sturdy and well-made with comfortable handles. Most importantly, however, they smoothly and effortlessly cut a range of materials including paper, card, tissue paper, various types of fabric and adhesive tape. Cutting adhesive tape is the ultimate test and one which defeats many scissors. These accomplished it perfectly with nothing impeding the cutting action or sticking to the blades.
They cut evenly and smoothly along the length of the blades and give the impression they’ll last forever. I’ve owned Fiskars and other high-quality scissors in the past but these knock them all into touch.
Ignore the reviews complaining they’re not all-titanium. The titanium fusing (a form of case hardening I suspect) is there to prolong the life of the stainless steel blades and minimise wear, corrosion or the chance of anything sticking to them.
It beats me how anyone can sell such a good product at such a low price. (They’re now less than a tenner for three pairs.) I’m keeping one pair for regular use and the other two as spares. You simply have to buy them while they’re available.

I have taken to making rubber latex moulds. Latex is sturdy and need sharpness to cut and trim.
I have tried many variants and whilst a Stanley blade does the job it is tiresome and awkward.
I have tried other scissors finding a pair of fiskars capable but pricey as I keep loosing them.
I decided to try these cheapies which work out to less than a third of the cost of the F,s.
I found them to be well made, similar in size, weight and design.
More comfortable to hold and every bit as capable as the fiskars.
I am very sure that if they can be used to trimlatex rubber, they will be just as capable for dozens of other purposes.
OVERALL. I will buy again especially as they represent good value for the money.
