    1. Verify your Alexa device and Alexa app have the latest software version

    2. Make sure your Alexa device and power strip are connected to the same network

    3. Verify your paired device is within 30 ft of your power strip

    4. Reset your power strip

    How do I reset my smart power strip?

    1. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds

    2. Release the reset button once you see the reset indicator blink green and red alternatively

    3. When the indicator blinks green, reset is complete and the device is ready to set up

    How many devices can I control with the smart power strip?

    The Amazon Basics smart power strip includes three individually controllable outlets, plus two always-on USB ports.

    How do I group multiple devices in the Alexa app?

    The Amazon Basics smart power strip is set up as three separate plugs in the Alexa app to control each connected device individually. To group devices, open the Alexa app, tap the Devices icon, click the + icon, and select Add Group to get started.

    I got this Amazon Basics Smart 3-Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip with 2 USB Ports to use in my home office for my laptop and two desk lights. The two USB ports are handy when I want to charge my phone, smartwatch, or other devices (without taking up the plug space). It has a long power cord (3.5 feet in length) so it is easy to route it around furniture. I absolutely love that this works with Alexa - it only took a few minutes to set up (the only lag was my phone recognizing the Bluetooth device). I've labeled each plug in Alexa so that I can turn off the individual plug outlets when I so desire (to save energy too). I also love that the powerstrip is surge protected so I can rest assured that my electronic devices are protected. I love that there is extra space between the three outlets, so there is room for the bulkier plugs (light certain lights have). I love this so much that I have purchased another one for my kitchen.

    The set up was so easy, it paired itself. We have multiple echo devices in the house on 2 different accounts. I wanted this smart strip to pair with the specific account in one of the rooms that is also near echo device on another account. I plugged this unit near the desired echo device and while I was opening the included instruction page, the Alexa that I wanted to pair with started saying something about setting up the smart device. I didn’t exactly hear what she said but when I opened my Alexa app, the power strip was already set up. It had three individual sections labeled “First plug,” “Second plug” and “Third plug.” From the app I was able to rename each plug and set up a schedule. Easy! When I say “Alexa, turn on the lamp” she says “OK” and does what she is told. I really like this unit. I can also use the physical round on/off buttons next to each plug to turn each plug if needed, but where is the fun in that… “Space saving angle plug” is a welcome feature, it fits well with my other not so space saving plug (see attached picture). I highly recommend this unit.
