How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsWorks perfectly with a Chromebook
Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2019
Even though my new Acer Chromebook has a Touchpad as well as a Touchscreen and Stylus, I still prefer the mouse interface. This AmazonBasics Wireless Mouse was so inexpensive that I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's excellent.

It is shaped much like Logitech's MX series mice -- the same large, ergonomically-sculpted shape which I find very comfortable (though not especially portable). I just plugged the receiver into the Chromebook and it worked!

Battery life seems good. I've been using it for more than two weeks with 2 rechargeable AA's and I'm still getting 2 out of 3 LEDs on the battery indicator. It tracks predictably and remains connected. Buttons and scroll-wheel operate with the same "feel" as my Logitech mice.

It is "Plug-and-Play" and does not come with any software. Instead, with whichever OS you're using, go your System Settings and make your adjustments for things like pointer speed there.

I'm also using two different AmazonBasics Surge protectors and a USB Hub. I've found them all, as well as this Wireless Mouse, to be well-made, reliable and great value.

1.0 out of 5 starsPoor precision
Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2018
At first I thought I need to get used to it, but now after a couple of weeks I have a chance to compare it side by side with a cheaper Logitech mouse (m510) I can say precision is poor on this one. Too much hassle to return, throwing it away...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mouse for the office
Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2019
Style: MouseVerified Purchase
I recently relocated within my building at work and was running my mouse on a different type of surface that wouldn't allow it to pick up movement well.
I decided to go ahead and try out this mouse and it worked flawlessly right out of the box. It fixed the issue I was having with my other mouse right away.
I don't do any gaming with it as I have a separate mouse at home for that purpose so I can't speak to how well it would function there.
The mouse is very comfortable to hold and it was plug and play so there was no driver to search for.
I can't really speak to battery life as I'm running lithium batteries so I probably won't have to worry about it for quite some time.

Well it's been almost two years and this mouse has been great. I ordered a new one today since the wheel on my old one stopped working. I don't think it was the mouse's problem I think my cat knockin it to the ground might have killed it. All I have to say it's a good mouse..

Update 7/28/21
Ok I play a lot of online games that require constant mouse use and the batteries last forever..
it's been 6 months and has the original Amazon batteries in it, HEAVY USE on them too.

I read some of the bad reviews, I pretty much have not had any of these issues, and I've own two..
They must have just gotten a bad batch...but it's Amazon just return it =P

Update 11/11/2021
Ok just a little update... this thing sips battery power, original batteries and still going strong 2/3 bars on the meter. this is with heavy use, not sure how they do it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect copy of Logitech MX
Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2021

Update after 3 months - Very good mouse. Bought two, one randomly stopped working, AMZN replaced it no questions asked. Best customer service. No fatigue in wrist or fingers. Very nice feel as Logitech MX was.

Best mouse hands down.
-------------------------------------
Love this mouse, very ergonomic, light and precise. Looks very good, good materials not cheapo plastic.

I owned Logitech MX and this mouse feels exactly like it. AMZN probably did a deal with Logitech to get MX design for their Amazon Basic lineup.

Buying one more. At @ $20, it is a good deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scroll wheel is not a free wheel
Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2020
Style: MouseVerified Purchase
This is a good mouse and generally works fine, but I would give it two criticisms. First, it feels like it is not as well made as the similar featured Logitec Mouses/Mice I have owned in the past. This is a minor issue and I have only had it for less than a week so perhaps it will actually prove to be of higher quality than it feels. Next, the scroll wheel is not a "free wheel". I was hoping that this mouse came with a wheel that you could click to put it in a "free wheel" mode wherein you could flick it to spin at high speed. I owned a logitec mouse 5 or so years ago that had that feature and I loved it. The scroll wheel on this mouse has a button near it that you can use to toggle between standard speed scrolling and a much faster speed scrolling. This design works pretty well, but I prefer the free wheel style so I am a bit disappointed. Other than these two issues, I think this mouse is great and worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive for the Price!
Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2019

This is obviously a ripoff of the Logitech Performance MX mouse...... which I adore. The MX is getting very difficult to find, and when you do it's very expensive. I tried this as an alternative, and must say that I am impressed! Only a couple days old, but it works with the Logitech Setpoint software.....which identifies it as a Performance MX mouse..... aside from the lack of side to side click of the scroll wheel, it performs identically to an MX mouse..... and for $14 (purchased used/excellent condition from Amazon Warehouse) it's amazing. It does feel a bit "light" compared to the MX, but having worn out a total of 4 MX mice, this is the closest I've found. I'm seriously thinking of buy several......just to have as backups.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good mouse with minor flaw

Very comfortable mouse. Only issue I have is the compartment where you keep the USB dongle and the batteries. The place where the dongle sits inside the mouse is so close to the batteries that it's impossible to fish out the dongle without taking out the closest battery. If you plan on traveling with this mouse or setting it up every day this becomes annoying very quickly. If your setting this up one time then it's perfectly fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic ergonomic mouse at low price
Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2020
Style: MouseVerified Purchase
Overall, this is a functional mouse at low price.
However this is a very basic mouse, and has sporadic lags issue during use (Minor lags. Does not bother me too much).
Would recommend if you are just using it for every day tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, etc
Would also recommend if you are looking for a cheap mouse for a Raspberry Pi or something similar.
Would NOT recommend if you are playing games, or working with spreadsheets, videos, etc.

Pro:
Good value.
Ergonomic, comfortable to use
Has standard forward/backward, and additional ctrl/win buttons.
Uses AAA battery (I have several devices that uses AAA battery, and have plenty of spare batteries).

Con:
Sporadic lagging, and poor precision.
No software to remap buttons (forward and backward button can be remapped using third party apps ike AutoHotkey)
Zoom and Win button corresponds to Left Ctrl and Left Win keys of keyboard. Making it difficult to remap. Simply making the two buttons Right Ctrl and Right Win key would be much more preferable than using Left keys.

Note:
The included receiver is NOT inside the receiver compartment of the mouse, but at a separate place inside the box, with no clear marking, and may be missed easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a mouse, with just enough features
Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2019

This is exactly the step above a basic mouse I wanted, thumb buttons for mapping in games are great.
I haven't used it long enough to rate the battery life, but ergonomics are good for lifting/resting with a good weight.
The lower thumb button for Windows key was not necessary and disruptive in a game, but if it can be remapped should be alright.
Only issue with it is a lack of forward thinking on a person's daily use: you pick up the mouse in your right hand (right handed mouse) turn it over, look at the switch and switch it On with your left hand... then BAM, laser in the eyes because of the position/angle of the laser emitter. I'd have preferred the laser emitter/reader position was mirrored. Not enough to downrank it a star because it is easily compensated for after it happens a couple times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits my hand nice to use
Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2020
Style: MouseVerified Purchase
I had used one of the smaller Amazon basics mouse before and liked it. I got this for use at work because I didn't really like any of the company mice. This fits my hand and is comfortable to use and was less than $30. The only thing I don't like is that occasionally when I go to use the scroll wheel I press down on the scroll wheel button. That's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Never had that as an issue with out mice. Only had it a week so I don't know about long term durability. Overall, I would buy again.
