Behind the scenes
Verified purchase
Argo: Declassified takes the viewer behind the scenes with interviews including former President Jimmy Carter and the CIA operative who pulled this off, Mendez. It really is a wild tale that is made even more incredible in that it really happened. Unlike some of the shoot 'em up, blow up everyone and everything to save a person or two, Argo is this very quiet tale with great suspense and tension and the behind the scenes take on the movie provides additional insights into the movie.

I like behind the scenes features on DVDs and this one doesn't disappoint. It adds to the movie, doesn't just repeat information or pat everyone on the back for doing such an outstanding job, but offers information that couldn't be in the movie. The makeup artist who helped the "production company" apparently helped out the CIA several times over the years. Director Ben Affleck made a point of getting actors who look like their real-life counterparts, but he also got some pretty terrific actors who make this little known chapter in history come to life. Argo: Declassified is well worth the 20-30 minutes to watch it because it is articulate, thoughtful and insightful. Many behind-the-scenes extras are not.

Take Issue with Introduction
Verified purchase
The movie is exciting with happy ending. However, I take issue with the simple minded one sided introduction. The introduction introduces the Shah as a ruthless thief. And that the revolution of the Iranian people was justified. For those of us who lived under the Shah and who studied the so called Islamic revolution the facts are different. If there was a golden time in IRAN it was between 1956 and 1978.
In 1979 the Islamic revolution succeeded due to the 'Human Rights' policies initiated by Jimmy Carter. However, the mass movement against the Shah as shown repeatedly on cameras was not to achieve democracy and/or freedom. It was driven by a martyr game successfully played by the backward and criminal clergy headed by Khomeni. A scary criminal named 'Khomeini' represented the Islamic revolution. From 1979 to this date they are killing one another to stay in absolute power. The chief criminal is now called with a similar name 'Khamenei'.
