Rented it through Prime but it shouldn't be a rental it should be apart of the Prime collection choice of Movies..It's an old school movie..

Classic Bboy tale it of Street Hustlaz in NYC getting their swag on trying to expand an empire. The only thing about this flick Is it could have been 45mins longer..

Belly is about Nas and DMX going from two heist men to trying to make it big in the drug game. You can guess, things don’t turn out well. The film was the brainchild of Hype Williams who made his name directing rap videos. You can see that influence throughout the movie with things like filters on the cameras to give a dark hue to all the shots. It introduces some interesting characters like a female assassin from Jamaica. Nas and DMX start off being like brothers but then move apart with Nas becoming philosophical and reflective about his situation especially because he’s got a stable relationship and family while DMX stays with the streets. I’m not totally sold on the ending but overall it was a nice gritty crime drama.

This is by far the best "hood" movie out there. Spike Lee's best work! So many ol' skool rap artists in this. Buy it now!

Stupid. Waste of time. The movie is filled with idiots wasting their lives away. Sure there's like 5 minutes at the end where some new character begins telling people to start acting better and focusing on more quality aspects of life with greater depth and meaning, but It's literally five minutes. Maybe. At the very end. Complete waste of time. Lame movie. Plot is also horrible executed. Really just a dumb movie.

This is a good copy about this one to replace my original copy from 1999 there was scratched up and skipping.. I like this one seems just as good as the first one.

Definitely before it's time.

I like Belly because of the relationship between Tommy and Sincere was so real. Even if they did not see eye to eye, they never really argued. I think that Belly also had great cinematography. The music for the film was well-suited for the movie and well-timed with the scenes. My favorite scene, is when Tommy is having sex with Kisha to get her mind off the argument. This was in total contrast to the loving scenes between Tionne and Sincere. You can really see that they love each other in their interactions. While Buns, on the other hand, really only cares about himself. He may have feelings for Kisha, but he is still gonna do what he do without a second thought about her welfare. I also like the scene where Tommy and Sincere meet at the restaurant. That is a great scene because of the changes and growth that had occurred. Tommy was coming to realize the same truth Sincere had told him about a few months prior. You also see that they sincerely respect and maybe even love each other.
