both good and bad

I read reviews before watching the movie... both good and bad. I didn't think it was a terrible film, it's a slow story but it makes sense. If you're bored and want to watch a movie, it's worth watching. That said, I see others paid for it while I viewed it on prime. Still, not a terrible movie but not great.

Don't Get Bent Like Andy Garcia
Verified purchase
Karl Urban fit his role as the avenging cop to a "T". Sofia Vergara's facial expression never changed, she may as well have been a manikin. But Andy Garcia as the aging father figure cop who was actually a dirty/bent cop carried the movie. Mr. Garcia in this supporting role was very good, very convincing.

Passable Time-Waster for Karl Urban Fans.

Passable mystery thriller, although the film's primary secret is out of the bag from the get-go if you've ever seen a movie before. By-the-numbers script chugs along, setting up the final payoffs in textbook fashion. Though set in New Orleans, it's pretty obvious this was shot in Italy, which lends it a little geographic discombobulation. Don't think too much about the climax, and the possibility that a startled Gallagher might have shot the home's occupant.

Contrary to urban (no pun intended) legend, Vergara does not appear nude.

Bent is the word they use for a dirty cop.

So Karl Urban plays a cop that goes to jail for getting his partner killed and being a dirty cop. Of course the story is much more complex.

When he gets out of jail, a lot of the police force make it their passion to go after him and torment him into doing something they can put him back in prison for.

He's trying to prove that him and his partner were setup and that he was not a dirty cop.

Sofia Vergara is the federal agent who begins to sympathise with him and help him. She also helps herself to him in the shower as well. But the shower aside, her acting is the most dry and unappealing you have ever seen her. Awful acting from her.

While the plot was somewhat interesting, Karl Urban's character wasn't very likable considering he was to be the lead. His acting was OK but also a bit dry. I just about fell asleep once in this movie. By the ending I just felt like I would have been better off if I had. While it wasn't an awful movie, it just was boring most of the time.

If you can get it for free on Prime it might not be so bad to kill some time. But I definitely wouldn't advise you pay for it.

Decent Film To Watch If You Have A Prime Subscription But Would Not Pay To Rent
Verified purchase
We began watching this film and I honestly was not expecting it to be the best but when it came to deciding between rating it 3 or 4 stars, I decided on 4 because although it was a bit slow at times, it held our interest and was not one that either my Wife or I considered moving on to something else.

We like all the actors in this film and it was good to see Andy Garcia again as I do not recall anything else that we had seen him in recent years.

Overall, as others have said, if there is nothing else better to watch, then this film has a decent plot and great actors but only do so if you have a Prime subscription because I would not recommend as a rental.

Good cop drama
Verified purchase
The story of a good cop wrongly convicted of a crime. The drama unfolds as he uncovers what happened.

The acting is good. The viewer is drawn into liking the main character. The cinematography is professional. The viewer knows that twists are coming, but the actual twist are not overtly obvious.

I recommend this film

Where did this come from?

I don't remember ever hearing about this movie being in the theaters. It seems like the studios have forgotten how to reach the general public... but I digress. This was a pretty good revenge/action flick. It has a couple of shortcomings, like being totally predictable... but revenge movies don't tend to have lots of room for plot twists, except for who is really the bad guy vs. who is apparently the bad guy, so even that gets predictable. Anyway, don't look for more than a couple hours of enjoyment, with some good acting involved, and you'll like it.

Star studded thriller, what can go wrong? Everything...
Very strange performance by Andy Garcia who is usually good in everything. Wooden performance by Urban, Sofia Vergara is there basically just for eye candy.
Filmed on a budget, from what I could see Spain and USA. In some scenes you just see the two locations don't quite mesh, i.e. weird cars, houses, etc. that doesn't quite fit in the previous scenes, especially the strange old BMWs painted as police cars.
Maybe the book is better but don't be suckered by the big names in this movie, it isn't worth watching.
