Sassy potatoes can be made simply with the addition of salsa and a few other flavorful ingredients.

Ingredients

- 2 pouches (4.7 oz each) Betty Crocker roasted garlic mashed potatoes.

- 4 cups water.

- 1 1/2 cups milk.

- 6 tablespoons butter or margarine.

- 1 1/2 cups Cheddar French-fried onions.

- 3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (3 oz).

- 3/4 cup Old El Paso salsa (any variety).

- 3 tablespoons sliced ripe olives or Old El Paso chopped green chiles, if desired.

- Sour cream, if desired.

- Chopped fresh cilantro, if desired.

Directions

1. Heat oven to 425°F. In 4-quart saucepan, heat water, milk and butter to boiling. Stir in 2 pouches potatoes; beat with fork until smooth. Stir in 3/4 cup of the onions.

2. Meanwhile, in large bowl, mix dressing mix (from salad box), oil, cold water and curry powder. Set aside.

3. Spread mixture in ungreased 2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Spread salsa over cheese. Top with olives and remaining onions.

4. Bake uncovered 3 to 5 minutes or until onions are golden. Serve with sour cream and cilantro.

Directions

YOU WILL NEED: 2 Cups Water 3 Tablespoons Butter 3/4 Cup Milk Stove-Top Directions 1. HEAT water and butter to a rapid boil in 2-quart saucepan. Remove from heat. 2. STIR in milk and entire pouch of Potatoes until well blended. Let stand 2 minutes to complete cooking. Whip with fork or spoon. Refrigerate leftovers. Microwave Directions Make as directed except heat water and butter in uncovered 2-quart microwavable casserole dish on High 5 to 8 minutes to a rapid boil. CAUTION: Dish and water will be hot! Carefully remove from microwave. Continue as directed in step 2.

Add a little garlic powder and these are the next best thing to real mashed potatoes without the work and mess. Did I mention at a dollar a pack, it's a value?

I LOVE these potatoes! So quick and easy to make, more like homemade and definitely better flavor than Idahoan. And the packet makes enough for four adults. We have these almost every night. But I can’t find them at ANY Wal-Mart around here. Hate to go to another grocery just for potatoes and if you buy groceries anywhere else it ends up costing about $100 more overall. So, I order them from here. Wish I could get them in the boxes again though. These packets don’t stand up and keep falling through the wires on the pantry shelf.

I have purchased the Betty C Herb before. So easy to fix as side, in a casserole or late night snack.
Can use for easy Sheplards Pie too.
Delicious.
Now trying Betty C Buttery instant potatoes.
Love these, so easy, quick, cheap.
I tried going by package instructions, but too dry.
Instead I use 3 full cups of water.
Add some milk and pepper.
Bring to boil, then turn down low.
Then stir in package of instant mashed potatoes.
Turn off, serve in bowl with butter on top.
Key is adding extra water 3 cups and some milk and butter for creamy hot mashed potatoes.

These potatoes are excellent. I mix with spam,cheddar cheese and an egg with milk or cream. It has wonderful texture.
