Adam Sandler plays a shizophrenic sociopath with severe developmental delays.

Adam Sandler plays a shizophrenic sociopath with severe developmental delays. As he tumbles randomly through a superficial world of pettiness and vacant platitudes, we keenly experience that we, all of us, have been born into an insoluble enigma. The director uses comedic counterpoint, including wholly inappropriate music (slyly evoking Kubrick's rape-scene in A Clockwork Orange) to emphasize the tragic existential irony that is Billy's life. One is left with a Bergman-esque sense of hopelessness, directionless emptiness, and the utter futility of Man's existence in a vast and unfeeling Universe. A true Classic!

Too many annoying moments by Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler starts off Billy Madison using that little kids voice that I really hate. Thank God he didn’t use it throughout the film otherwise I would’ve turned it off. The story is about Sandler trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his dad so that he can inherit the family business. In order to do that he has to finish his education starting with 1st grade. Sandler likes being a manchild so this seemed a natural choice. This allows Sandler to do all kinds of goofy things like playing dodge ball, taking part in a spelling bee, etc. The theme of course is that Sandler has to grow up. The movie has its moments but overall this is the kind of Sandler movie that annoys me more than entertains.

Well, guys. I watched this when I was in high school and loved it. Twenty years later I thought it would be awesome to show my 8 and 9 year old. 🧐 In the opening thirty seconds its nudie magazine day. Yikes. Great movie obviously but I’d hold out to middle school (I’m sure I’m getting a lot of “duhs” out there!).

Funny movie, middling blu-ray

This release is pretty standard. If you love Billy Madison, it's worth picking up, but it's odd that this one can't get a better release with deleted / TV edit scenes added as a special feature, or a commentary from Sandler on his first feature film. Image quality is about what you'd expect on a disc that sells for $5.

One of my favorite mindless comedies

It was either rent or buy on this movie and we bought this because it's the type you'll watch over and over again. It's silly humor, very immature but we love it. This and Happy Gilmore are our 2 favorite Adam Sandler comedies from the 90's.

I remember watching this and laughing my butt off for hours. I rented it again and I only really got a couple giggles. I really miss loving this movie but it's just not as exciting as it once was.

Great movie if you enjoy childish humor. I mean this in a good way. Its certainly one of Adam Sandlers first films so its a bit ridiculous but thats what makes this movie funny and great. Its certainly a recommended movie to see.

I can’t be friends with anyone who doesn’t like this movie. It’s one of those that gets funnier the more you watch it and is endlessly quotable. It’s a classic!
