Enlightened and woke couple take drugs and have sex. 🙄 Nothing to see here, folks. Either take the "Try-to-make-it-past-the-40-minute-mark Challenge" or just give this movie a pass. It's your life.

Trippy Little Ride On The Quantum Plane Roller Coaster ~ 5 Star Sci-Fi Fantasy
Verified purchase
Salma Hayek and Owen Wilson leap from one energy echelon to another in this unique fantasy. This is an absolutely riveting movie with outstanding acting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found the storyline engaging as well as singular.

I glanced at the other reviews and sadly, too many viewers take this movie literally.

This movie struck a chord with me. I developed Dissociative Disorder as a result of severe childhood trauma. Couple that with my inattentive ADHD and my innate ability as a professional artist, you gotta know I live a pretty darn interesting life. Dissociative Disorder makes you experience life as if you live Quantum Plane; the world(s) is separated by a gossamer veil and you easily slip between those existences. Sometimes, especially if stressed or triggered, this disorder just "takes" you, sorta grabs you up, and you're body's "here" but your "mind" is somewhere else. Sometimes you can control it. Which is pretty great when you are waiting an eternity at the DMV. Not so great if you are driving.

So, where some reviewers saw addicts and sordid ugliness, I saw alternative lives in an intersecting, interconnecting worlds. And I loved it.

A powerful film

I knew nothing about it going in. Is it a sci-fi, or fantasy film? By the end I saw the brilliance of it. I got to experience the life of a mentally ill homeless man from his perspective, and it changed me.

bliss blah

Muddled mess of blah. Meaningless story, droll score, bizarre casting. Irritating. Given the fact that Hollywood perpetually creates excruciatingly mind-dumbing junk, what is the point of watching any further.

I love Owen and Selma, but this was unbearable. Shallow dialogue, felt like an attempt at something great but just empty.
The lack of depth with the "real life" dialogue just degraded the message.

Weird and poorly written
Verified purchase
This movie started off interesting, then plummeted off a cliff. I love both actors, and was trying my best to enjoy the film, but it was thinly written and had an odd, familiar and overplayed story-line. As if it was trying to be a unique and clever sci-fi, but failed miserably. Nothing was impressive, including ZERO likeability for any of the actors. character development was almost non-existent. why do we care about 2 people that don't even seem to care about anyone else?

My wife & I are real life upset.

I sold my wife on this "alternate reality" type of movie for us to watch on date night. (she never wants to watch the movies I suggest so we ALWAYS just end up watching some YouTube or one of her female shows... lol I digress) So its a huge win for me; the trailer had us both hooked. Bizarre casting, amazing premise, & PRIME INCLUDED! Say less fam, so we end up buying Chinese & make this whole dinner for date night/movie night. Needless to say, we start the movie & I kid you not the entire time I am on the edge of my seat waiting for them to come out & explain what's really going on. The entire time, the director has you guessing and grasping at straws with this HORRIBLE WOKE HOTEP DRUG INDUCED CONSPIRITORIAL POLITICAL CORRECT HOT GARBAGE. Not to mention, the writer throws so much shade to the whole simulation theory. There is no real reason to try and connect what they were trying to. I wanted this to be so good, the whole time I kept bothering my wife about what I thought was "really going on" lmfao boy was I wrong. I cant believe we wasted our date night on this. I mean, look, the acting was really good, and I feel so bad for this whole thing, because the movie could've been on of the best I've seen in a long time. In terms of like Syfi & simulation theory/multiverse & NPC's becoming conscious, (in this case GFP) (generated fake person)
Family, don't waste your time watching it. Trust the rating, after its all said & done & you're questing what just happened, you will feel the cringiness of this film.

I see what yall were trying to do. I don't appreciate it & this is the first time I've sat down and ever wrote a review for any kind of movie. I had to get on this damn laptop, and find the site bc we watch it on the fire stick. SHEEEESSSSSHHHHHHHH. Save yourself the time, this isn't where its at fam. Its not what you think it is, & anyone saying its syfi and trippy. Please, just get out. Thank you & good day. Cheers

Movie started off kinda slow and mysterious, it was good. If you do not read the movie description first before you watch it, you'll be so lost. I had no idea what to look for in the movie because I did not read it. So anyways, the script was good. Owen and Salma did a great job acting together, they made the movie seem like an original storyline. The movie did a great job with bending the world and making it clash together between two realities. I did deduct a star for having Bill Nye in it, so that put it down to 2 out of 5 stars. When I first saw him I wanted to turn it off - if I knew he was in it I would not have watched it in the first place. He is not a safe place, if you know what I mean. But, the movie gained a star back near the end with how they maneuvered the ending. I'd say the only real part that brings the movie together is Owen's daughter - she's the only real person in the film - mysterious! Salma's character had no build up, so she seemed like a stranger the whole time. So did Owen's son. At the end of the movie I feel like there were only 4 actual characters, weird. Makes me want to watch that one movie with Tom Hardy where he sits in his car the whole movie.

The movie is good to watch once.
