We have been using the Cascade pods for quite a few years. Why? Because of the convenience. Oh, isn't it so easy to "pop" in a pod and shut the dishwasher door! It sure is. HOWEVER...what I have learned and what I hope everyone who reads this review learns is that these pods, while admittedly convenient, are in fact not good for your dishes...especially your glassware. Why? Two reasons.
1) TOO MUCH SOAP
2) TOO MUCH RINSE AID
The fact is, you only need about a tablespoon of detergent to clean your dishes. Ignore the myth that you should leave food remains on the dishes "because the detergent works better when there is food" HORSE HOCKEY!
Rinse your dishes thoroughly, before loading.
If you use the pods with rinse aid you are doubling the amount you actually need to "sheen" off the water for better and clearer drying. TOO MUCH RINSE AID CAUSES FOAMING!!! which will lead to etching. Look, if the dishes don't rinse the soap off thoroughly, your drying cycle will bake that soap residue onto your dishes, causing the cloudy appearance.
This is the proper method to get clean and CLEAR dishes:
1) Get all food remains off of dishes before loading
2) Only use 1 Tablespoon of LIQUID Dishwasher soap. I have no problem with Cascade liquid, just not the concentrated.
3) Use a quality rinse aid.
4) Run your hot water in your sink until it's very hot BEFORE starting your dishwasher.
These pods are a marketing ploy to get you to use more product. JUST LIKE THE WASHING MACHINE PODS! And as long as we're on the subject: Fabric Softener! Hint: Dilute your fabric softener with 50% water.
BTW, do you know that when you use the product that "cleans" your dishwasher tub, you are using a rinse aid? Which, not surprising is manufactured by the same corporations convincing you to use more soap. Wake up everyone! It's all about the Benjamins.

Excessive suds caused my dishwasher to leak

I discovered that my old dishwasher started leaking after switching to this detergent. Unfortunately we run the dishwasher at night and did not discover the leak until the new wood flooring was permanently damaged.I changed all the seals and still had leaks. I finally realized that the leak was being caused by the excessive suds that this detergent generates. The suds cause the dishwasher to leak from the door seals and from the water level float.I have included two pictures taken while using this detergent. I tried the old detergent and there were far fewer suds and no leaks. Unfortunately I ordered a new dishwasher before i figured out what was causing the leaks. So ultimately using this detergent cost me lots of $$$$ I see that some other people have had similar problems with this detergent.
