Acid trip by way of Vinyl Records
Shudder was kind enough to issue an epilepsy warning, before the third or fourth "Episode", The warning should have come at the beginning of the series. So that is why there is one star off.
All in all, it's a pretty good horror series. Very creepy. The whole atmosphere of the show lends itself to something foreboding going on. A good way for horror fans to pass the time.
Just be prepared to block your eyes a lot if you are sensitive to flashing lights. And keep the remote on hand if techno noise makes you nauseous, so you can turn down the sound at times. But if you are a horror fan with epilepsy, you already know the drill.

Noir-Horror is a genre I didn't know I needed.
Combining noir and horror created such a cool vibe for this series. I love the shorter episode lengths and the overall feel of this series is hard to find elsewhere. I'll admit that I am a sucker for a mysterious object movie... even if that object is a MacGuffin. The vinyl collector theme was actually super interesting and seeing the outlandish audio equipment setups and experiencing the thrill of the hunt for rare wax made me want to head to my nearest consignment shop in search of rare gems. I think a lot of people are mistaking the minimal dialog and classic Noir "To the point" writing as poor acting/writing but I have to say that it is spot on for this genre. Long story short this is a definite watch and I hope there is more to come!

Warning
Don't watch this if blinking lights bother you. Seriously almost every scene flashes. Better yet, just don't watch this. I know it was supposed to be edgy and trippy and all but it's really just annoying. I have no idea why they call it noir, it doesn't have near the atmosphere for that designation. The idea sounded great but then it just wandered off into nothing much. Always great seeing Ted Raimi, hence the two stars.

An enjoyably creepy needle drop
The concept of a piece of media being cursed and having the ability to drive all that view it insane is nothing new. The object is often a movie - examples include Midnight Movie, the Cigarette Burns episode of Masters of Horror, and the podcast drama The Last Movie - so in that regard, it's nothing new. However, switching the focus onto vinyl collectors is a fun twist. I found it to be more creepy than scary, with the plot moving along at a more deliberate pace. For a low-budget production, this looks - and especially sounds - great. The only drawback is how emotionally cold it is. It is harder to care about a character's journey when you are not allowed inside of their head. And also, Ted Raimi has a great role. Recommended.

It has its moments but......
It's hard to get really into the intensity and the atmosphere when the lead character is completely unlikable. Also, for a series that wants to take itself as atmospheric and tense, well it's hard to view it as such when 1 minute in there's a sex scene and orgasm talk that is straight out of a bad slasher flick. I guess inserting a random sex scene is an attempt to make it "hip" and "edgy".

Finally, chemistry between two characters requires more than the unlikable lead softening her voice while gentle music plays whenever she speaks to her lover.

Good but not great.
Not perfect but, for a shudder orginal, it exceeded my expectations. It terms of quality it is better than most Netflix originals. It kind of reminds me of the masters of horror episode Cigarette Burn.

An Excellent Story
An excellent story. Reminiscent of Cigarette Burns and The Ninth Gate, but this one is based on music.

Lovecraftian undertones
I enjoyed this little series. It's very atmospheric. Overall, I think it's fun - and Ted Raimi's in it! What else do you need?
