If there is one thing you do during this global quarantine, watch this masterpiece. Forget about the antics of The Tiger King, the frivolity of the Game of Thrones, or the shameful Star Wars stories---Death Wish IV: The Crackdown delivers what you need---and what you need right now is a serious kick in your crack from the man Charles Bronson (aka Paul Kersey). The story is direct--no fancy writing or dubious cinematography. You want action, porn-style script, explosives and more--here it is. This is what cocaine likes to watch.

Paul Kersey has done it again, for the fourth time. And there getting better every time I watch them. I've only seen the first, the second, and the third. Finally I've seen this one. And this one was incredible. But the storyline had twist and turns. I didn't expect that the way it ended. The ending was shocking to see and very say. I didn't say that Paul Kersey died but someone does. Charles Bronson will always be remembered as a vigilante. I've seen Kay Lenz before, that's right she was in "House" a 1985 comedy/horror film I've seen before. There is someone in here that I have seen but he plays Art Sanella. I would love to watch this again. I recommend it.

Now I can say that I am thoroughly satisfied with the (5) "Death Wish" movies.. Death Wish certainly will be a movie title that will be associated with the late Mr. Bronson .. what breaks my heart is that his children didn't follow in his foot step's ? Maybe they did ..I haven't snooped beyond what I already knew about her personal life and marriages? I will say that this version was much better than 3 and 5 . This director used a different type of lightening, the story line didn't bore me and there were more B and C-List actor's than in 3 and 5 chapter's. Now Mr. Kersey didn't go after thugs like he did before . He was spoon fed his .... and not to give away the entire.. movie..? I think you will prefer this version better than 3 ..that was mostly "New York" gang banger's.. and 5 is mostly Mafia hench men. Four of the supporting actor's Perry Lopez,John P. Ryan ,Soon-tek Oh and George Dickerson have all died.. Actress Kay Lenz is still alive .. did you know that she was married at one time to 1970;s teen heart throb.. the late David Cassidy ? Well time to move on.. and watch some more of his other films.. Here's to you ..Mr. Bronson !

A SEQUEL TO EQUAL THE ORIGINAL

IF YOU HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW THE FIRST DEATH WISH, SEEING A QUALITY FOLLOW UP IN HD BLAZING COLOR IS FABULOUS. THE FOURTH, I.E.1987, IS NOT AT ALL DATED AND GIVES YOU THE SAME ACTION AS A CLINT EASTWOOD MOVIE DOES. IT IS SIMPLY RELENTLESS AND HARD TO CATCH YOUR BREATH. WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT DEATH WISH I, EVERY SEAT WAS FILLED AND LINES WERE AROUND THE BLOCK. IMAGINE NOW, SITTING IN FRONT OF A LARGE SCREEN, WITH NO NOISY CROWDS OR DISTRACTIONS. THE VERY SOLID PLOT HAS A THIRD PARTY CAUSING A GANG WAR BETWEEN TWO MOB FAMILIES, WITH BRONSON AS THE INSTIGATOR. A TWIST ENDING WITH A MONSTROUS FINALE IS WORTH ANY WAIT. THIS IS A GREAT ACTION FLICK. BRONSON AND EASTWOOD, ,WERE THE BEST ACTION HEROES, ALONG WITH SHAFT, RICHARD ROUNDTREE.

"the only death wish film in which no bare breasts appear on screen"
Verified purchase
i am conflicted about that. as an American, bare breasts are among my favorite things. however, in the death wish realm, they only appear during a sexual assault. i do prefer happy fun time breasts. as for the actual movie, you forget all about breasts after good guy Chuck starts 203-ing baddies. and it has a couple of cool quotes. it's a death wish movie. it is what it is. a rating less than 3 stars is likely being nit-picky.

I give this movie 3 F's... For Fresh, Fast and Fun!

This movie features a new direction for the popular "Death Wish" saga. In the first three movies, Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) went after the lowlife thugs, muggers, gang members and bottom feeding street punks. But this time he decides to cut off the head of the snake, so to speak. In DEATH WISH 4: THE CRACKDOWN, Paul goes after the bosses at the top... The high society criminals who wear expensive suits, live in penthouse apartments, throw lavish parties and attend the opera. This departure gives part 4 its own unique vibe. Yes, you still get plenty of old fashioned Bronson violence. But the overall tone is fresh.

The middle portion of the movie is especially interesting. Paul takes out his victims one by one, with voiceover narration introducing us to each of them. The target is set up... Then brought down. Another target is set up... Then brought down. It's fast paced and a lot of fun. He even uses gadgets (think James Bond) for a couple of the kills.

Some may not appreciate the new tone and style but I liked that part 4 keeps things fresh. The script is tight. The directing is slick and efficient. And Charles Bronson takes the role a bit more seriously than I think he did in Part 3 (which was a fun movie too... but obviously campier than this one). It's nice to see our anti-hero taken seriously again. This was a great movie from start to finish... And OH what a finish it was! The ending will leave you with your mouth agape.

Paul Kersy at His Best

There's just something about Bronson destroying all the scumbags that we all wish that we could do in the real world.

It's a ANOTHER great escape where the little man can change the world for the better.

ENJOY THEM ALL !!

I think Death Wish 1 & 2 are great cinema. The first like reality (he doesn't actually find any of the original perpetrators) and the second is an idealized reality (he finds and kills all of them!) In both, the character Bronson plays is believable enough and likable. Number 3 is pretty bad. The Paul Kersey character is written totally wrong and I re-sold the film on Amazon. So I was pleasantly surprised when the fourth turned out to be watchable. Bronson is back in the character we met in the first two films and there's plenty of righteous vengeance to be had. There's badness here, but it's a fun kind of badness. For example, an early Danny Trejo role comes to an end in a laugh out loud (in terms of the "special" effects) manner. This film is not a must-see, but if you're a fan it's worth a watch.
