But wifi connectivity is terrible, we have a small apartment of 700sq ft, even in that while connected to 5ghz, it stops responding and wifi drops.
Also it doesn't find dock unless in line of sight, which combined with poor wifi in corner, would just let it die out of battery.
But really good concept and fun device. We bought this to monitor our cats when away on vacation.
The reason I won't be using this is because it basically does what it wants to do and not what it should be doing. It's getting commands from somewhere cause it will just roll off its port and high tail it down the hallway on its own little mission.
The app (download to setup) allows you to control it from your phone. However it only shows me what the robot is doing which several times was just the robot spinning around uncontrollably and ignoring my commands to STOP.
It's a lil frightening. Especially cause the odd behavior is like at 3am.
I disconnected it after 2 days. I may bury it in the backyard.
Great concept, but this robot doesn't follow instructions and I don't like that.
Ebo came in a small, minimally packaged box and required no assembly. You have to download the (free) app and follow a series of instructions to connect your phone, but it’s reasonably easy to do. Ebo sounds just like Wall-E and moves in a strikingly similar way as well. It feels like you’re playing a video game trying to control him, but it’s manageable once you get the hang of it.
Ebo can “dance” (spin in circles) and move on its own (I still can’t figure out that setting, really, but I accidentally turned it on and he moved around on his own until I started touching the controls again). I guess the dance feature is supposed to be fun for an animal to play with, but Cacao wouldn’t come within 20 feet of it so that feature is a bit useless for us. It is entertaining, though.
The video quality is pretty good, and it’s very easy to take photos and videos. You can speak through it, but you will sound like a Wall-E version of yourself so I doubt your pet will recognize your voice. There’s a pretty big learning curve in terms of figuring out all of the features, as apparently you can schedule Ebo to do all sorts of things at different times (like record on a set schedule, return home to his charging dock on his own, go to “sleep” at certain times, etc.), and I don’t know if I’ll go through the trouble of learning them all, honestly. It’s a lot of complexity for just a pet cam, and the app didn’t have a super user-friendly interface.
I give the experience of trying out Ebo a 10/10 on the fun scale. We had a blast laughing about using Ebo as a menacing guard who paces to protect the trashcan from Cacao (a notorious garbage-digger who learned to open the lid for an all-access pass). I thought I was just buying an interesting camera, but it turns out I may have gotten a tiny guard/dog trainer who uses the “scared straight” method to ward off bad behavior.
I will say, though, we haven’t actually left the dog alone with the camera yet because she was so afraid of it. I can see how the movement feature would be useful if your dog is allowed to roam through the house, but a stationary camera will probably suffice if your dog is in a more confined area.
Bottom line: This device is incredibly fun and novel, but I can’t say that I see it as something we'll use daily.

The app isn't intuitive which is par for the course for products like this, but what has been intriguing to me is this little security pet camera literally has a mind of its own, occasionally it will allow me to control it but much of the time it will ignore my direct input and do what it wants to do instead.
Overall, honestly this thing would be entertaining if it weren't so utterly terrifying to have the possibility that I just released the first iteration of Skynet loose on the world beginning with my downstairs. Few things are more terrifying for both me and my doggos to go downstairs for a late-night treat and then hear this thing stalking us without any input from the controls, it just does. 3/5 stars.
