This is the first Espresso powder I have bought. So, keep in mind that I cannot make comparisons. I bought this to make homemade ice cream, because I have been buying an organic coffee ice cream with bits of chocolate, which I would give a rating of 10. I made my first batch with this espresso powder, and the flavor is absolutely perfect. I took a guess as to how much to add, and looked at online recipes. I added 5 Tbsp, wondering if it would be too little or too much, and my recipe made the standard 1.5 qt box of ice cream. (Tasting the ice cream before it is chilled/frozen isn't a really good way to guess.) The result is that my first batch of coffee ice cream was wonderful.

So what would be better than a dark chocolate cake with mocha icing...and all is possible with this very reasonably prices Espresso Powder. I used to use King Arthur's but it is so much more expensive. Add espresso powder to a chocolate cake brings out a super chocolaty flavor, without tasting the coffee. Super easy and convenient to use as well, both for icings and cakes....just use your imagination and try it with American, Italian, etc. buttercreams.

My first experience baking with this turned out better than I imagined. Used it in a chocolate cupcake recipe I have and changed some of the ingredients to make it refined-sugar-free. Resulted in the best cupcakes I've ever made (to date). Be sure to use this in any recipe that calls for chocolate cake, cupcakes, etc. It really brings out the flavor to a whole new level.
