My new favorite movie of all time, this movie was incredible. The philosophy of optimistic nihilism felt genuine and reflected how I feel about existence in general. I have never felt such a deep connection with a film before, it felt profoundly "real" even when the actual content was fantastical.

The movie was spectacularly beautiful, the prose was strong, the acting was emotional. It has been about a month since I saw it in theaters and it continues to worm its way into my thoughts.

Not for everyone, but by god it was for me.

I was skeptical of the hype. I don't often enjoy movies... I'm more of a documentary kind of gal, so I waited for it to come out on Amazon even though everyone told me to see it in theater.

But.. this movie was EVERYTHING. It was action packed, heartfelt, and hilarious at the same time. Just the right amount of nonsense allowed me to enjoy even the action scenes (not usually my thing). The ending had me crying and laughing at the same time. It's worth watching!

I watched this movie FOUR times in theaters. I still laugh, cry, cringe, etc. at all the parts. I notice new things during every rewatch that just make this movie more and more beautiful. I didn't know that I could enjoy a movie as much as I enjoy this. It truly lives up to its name. The score, acting, directing, cinematography, and writing are all phenomenal.

I was briefly depressed at the prospect that I might never experience another movie like this, but then realized that I couldn't have conceived of doing so beforehand and so I'm elated to be surprised again in the future.

It’s been a long time since I was this impressed by a movie! It is incredibly imaginative, hilariously funny, and extremely moving. The acting is first-rate, and is deeply enhanced by quality writing, thoughtful storytelling, and excellent special effects. It is SO much more than “Chinese family owns a laundromat.” I am going to see it in-theater again, and I cannot wait to own it!

I think this movie is going to be looked back on with great fondness in the future. The visuals are so intense they almost pull you into the movie. The cast, especially Yeoh, are great and make you emotionally invested in them. The message is timeless (pun intended). A message I needed to hear and a message a lot of people need to hear today, tomorrow, and beyond.

When I say this, I say it knowing it is not the perfect movie and that feeds into the whole purpose of it. It is philosophical, thought provoking, ridiculous, weird, crazy, so much fun, incredibly heartwarming, unique, and literally everything all at once. It is so incredibly nuanced and it's so obvious so much care and love went into the making of it. It goes to show you don't need a huge budget or big time celebrities to make an all around fantastic movie. This should be winning all the awards, it deserves way more recognition.

This is the best movie of a generation. On par with The Princess Bride, there's action, romance, drama, sorrow, and humor. Everything you could want in a film. If this doesn't win at least one Oscar, I'll be upset.
First to the teams that made this film: The acting from all involved was excellent. The camera work, lighting, sound design, and effects were masterful. After seeing some videos online, the editing crew is awe inspiring. All of this absurd amount of skill and talent brought together by A24.
Next, the storyline seems complicated, as it should for a movie involving the multiverse. But as the story moves along, you start to see the larger picture. There's building of excitement for the main character as they discover skills and how to use them and the comedy from their misadventures and odd situations they get into. The action is wonderful in its play on older martial arts movies. Some are over the top and others will have you laughing. Again, the cast and crew made this a memorable experience and I can't praise them highly enough.
