I have a 12+ year old remote control’less non-smart 42” flat screen LCD Vizio that I recently set up seamlessly with a google chromecast HDMI streaming device (w/remote). Used this to get sound through an older non-Bluetooth Samsung sound bar. Was able to hook it up without reading the instructions while watching UFC ppv. Had it rolling inside of one round. Remote for chromecast & sound bar still work flawlessly. No noticeable difference in picture nor sound quality at 1080. Avoided having to buy a smart tv. I’m using youtube tv. Could not be more pleased with this product thusfar! (Albeit with less than 24 hours of use).
Note: as previously mentioned by another reviewer, it does not come with a DC 5v adapter for powering the box (standard iPhone usb plug). I had plenty extras in a cheap generic brand. No issues. Will update if necessary.

- If the audio output is AUX, set the audio converter at 2CH, the audio input source should set as LPCM audio format output.
- If choose the SPDIF audio output, 2CH and 5.1CH audio mode both OK, and set the parameter according to the audio receiver.
- If choose the pass mode, the HDMI 7.1 audio can pass through this converter, but only the HDMI output port has the audio output. L/R and SPDIF is mute.
- If the HDMI display is the Projector or the DVI Monitor, we need set it as 2CH or 5.1CH according to the specification of the AV receiver.
