For starters I am sick of everyone acting as though "the dumb americans" just didn't listen. They were convinced and lead to the waterfall by a native who didn't believe their own myths, but even everyone in the movie conveniently forgets that. Movie is pretty dumb and really boring. I found myself not paying attention after like 15 to 20 minutes and could still follow the last 5 to 10 of the movie with no issue. That means literally every thing between the start and end of the movie is pointless as far as information goes and not entertaining at all. None of the characters are really likable or memorable which is necessary for horror movies like this to work. You need to care about at least one of them to care about the rest of the movie.

80% Palm Trees, Flash Lights and Silly Screaming
Verified purchase
Talk about low budget. I could have filmed this in my backyard. 80% of the film is walking through palm trees with flash lights and silly screaming to let the monsters know where these idiot kids are located. This is a brainless mess. Three cute girls, three dorky guys and all the makings of each of them hoping they die. What a slap in the face to women. Women can walk and run and stay on their two feet. They don't go running and tripping through a jungle like inept fools. Avoid this embarrassment to the horror film genre. A total waste of time and money.

There are certainly worse creature features out there, but this one doesn't really offer much, so I'm going 2 stars...

The flick really just follows the theme / plot of 1000+ other movies, and doesn't add anything new or exciting to the experience...

Bunch of 20 somethings go to a tropical paradise, get wasted with some locals, and decide to venture into the jungle... dun dun dun...

( Odd side note... I dunno what the movie was trying to do with tension between several of the characters... Oh no, Bob and Sue are having trouble in their marriage... Why is that even in the movie? It's literally just like garbage filler for no reason whatsoever... )

The movie is riddled with absolutely horrible decision making left and right ( of course it's common for people in horror movies to have the IQ of a hamster, so why not... )... Running through dense jungle at night? I'm surprised they didn't all just die breaking their own necks... ( Oh, btw, that is probably more than 1/2 of this movie )

Frankly I was SHOCKED when one of the guys pulled out a 1st aid kit from his backpack... Someone actually had the brains to pack a 1st aid kit??? WOAH...

In any case... 2 stars... there are worse creature features out there... just don't expect a lot from this one and you'll be fine...

Excellent acting, cinematography and editing

The negative reviews about this are appalling. There was excellent acting, great cinematography, superb editing, plentiful and loud screaming, a terrific creature and great creature sound effects. Yes, you should probably not go into the Panamanian jungle at night (visit the canal and go home), but, if you do, make sure your cell phone is fully charged, get fresh batteries for your flashlight, make sure your will has been made out, bring an extra pair of underwear, take an automatic weapon, hire a licensed Chupacabra zoologist to accompany you and don’t forget your toothbrush. And, after watching this, the least you’ll be able to say is “Well, at least they weren’t MY kids!”

OUTSTANDING HORROR SET IN JUNGLES OF PANAMA

AS A SMALL GROUP OF TOURISTS ARE WARNED ABOUT THE THE DANGERS OF THE JUNGLE BUT A BREATHTAKING WATERFALL THAT EXISTS,
WE IMMEDIATELY KNOW THEY ARE GOING. I HAD SEEN THIS FILM BEFORE AND ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY, BUT IT WAS MY FIRST TIME LAST
NIGHT IN HD IN GLORIOUS COLOR. THEY ARE WARNED OF AN INDIGENOUS CREATURE THAT LIVES DEEP IN THE FOREST, I.E. JUNGLE, BUT
IGNORE THE WARNINGS. THE LEGEND MEETS THE EXPECTATIONS WE HAVE FOR IT AS THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE EXCELLENT. AT THE
DENOUEMENT, I.E. UNRAVELING, THE VIEWER WONDERS IF THE GOVERNMENT WILL COVER THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE UP, AS IS SO OFTEN
DONE IN LIFE. GOOD CONCLUSION AND A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FILM, VERY VISUAL.

Great monster.

This is typical of movies today. Three weeks, fifty grand, and I would bet the makeup crew was underpaid.

All the rest is common except for one thing, I got five jump scares out of this movie. Between that and the makeout scenes, this is a teen boy's dream date for his home theater room or late night with the boys for some dream team teen stuff.

Do stupid things...
Verified purchase
Bad enough they went into the jungle but then, in the dark started running off in different directions or separating. Also, why not fashion some weaponry from your surroundings if you know you're being hunted down? Obvious survival things missing here. Hard to suspend disbelief when stupid is happening.

About what I expected
Verified purchase
A standard slasher plot, this time with chupacabra as the slasher. Upper-class college grads and twenty-somethings go to Panama. Panamanian girl tells them about this amazing place in the jungle. Panamanian guy says not to go there, that it's cursed. They go anyway. No twists. Nothing unexpected. But for free, it was entertaining enough (I skipped the last 10 minutes or so and went straight to the ending.
