These work incredibly well. My work just switched to a tendy "open" office floor plan with a very dense layout. It is incredibly noisey now, and to combat the noise they...added more (white) noise. It doesn't work.
I have headphones with noise cancellation, and they works pretty well but the 60dB of noise (about same as a TV at "normal" levels 1m away) is just too much. I tried listening to music to help drown out the noise that still makes it through but it really fatigues my ears.
I switched out the pads on my earbuds with these and I'm really impressed. They are as quiet as a really good set of earplugs. I still want to listen to music but it needs to be quiet enough to not damage my hearing. These make it so quiet that I listen at literally the lowest level my PC does (2%) and still have to turn down the volume to 40% in my music app as well. With the stock pads I was listening at 10% and 100%, respectively.
FWIW, I'm a 6'2" ~180lbs male, and the large size is what really fit me. The medium ones were ok, but not as tight a seal as the large.
Everything sounds muffled with these. Lows, highs, mid-range, everything sounds restrained. Like I'd stuffed cotton balls in my ears before putting my earbuds in. I don't know why this set is different, but having done a straight swap on my eartips and even having one old and one new tip on, they're just doing something new to f*** with the sound. For the price, that's unacceptable. Even if I just got a bad set, at twenty dollars, I don't care.

The fit for me is perfect, they feel very comfortable in my ears. For the IE80S I needed to buy the biggest size as they have large drivers for earphones. The ear wax guards are a nice touch for sure and means I don’t have to clean my earphones. The sound is far better than the silicon ear tips that came with the earphones and the isolation is superb. If you’re looking for an instant sound quality and isolation quality improvement these are a great choice...
However they seem slightly over priced for what they are but if you’re willing to pay that markup you probably won’t be disappointed. But bare in mind these are designed with more mid range and high end IEMs in mind so they probably won’t do much for a pair of £5 earphones from the local shop
I use these with the ribbon in-ears that came with my HTC One smartphone. Those in-ears are surprisingly good, crisp and clear with a nice sound stage for in ears, if a bit heavy on the bass, but the microphonics produced by the ribbon cables touching anything (my clothes!) is horrendous!! Using these tips, combined with putting the ribbon cables over my ears, fixes most of that problem.
And these tips block out most of the phone conversations going on around me in my open plan hell- err.. office. For that alone they're worth the price, and I'm expecting them to perform wonderfully on my next flight as well.
The difference in perceived sound quality is fantastic with these tips; they conform to your individual ear shape and seal it off to give great isolation. The waxguard is a really useful feature, although it does mean that you replace the tips slightly more frequently, which brings me neatly to my next point. The four-star rating is for the life-span of the ear tips. Mine have lasted for (under reasonably low usage) just over two months. This is not fantastic, since my previous ones held on for two years before being unusable, but to be honest they clam to last for three months per pair, so this is something you should just be more aware of when buying them.
Overall, they are a brilliant investment if you love comfort and sound quality. They are super-comfortable, and really allow you to listen to your music in a more enjoyable way, even if it only lasts three months.
