Impressively cheesy

Super yummy!

One of the things I was looking for was something with high ratio of cheese flavor to salt. The less salty stuff I tried just didn't have the flavor, even using twice as much powder. This is still quite salty, but it's so darn cheesy that you don't have to use a ton.

A lot of the low reviews here are from people who expected a survival food with years of shelf life rather than a cooking ingredient. This is a good puchase if you're NOT looking for something that's mostly preservatives.

These products are not like the other brands available. You expect this type of item to be 10 to 25 year shelf life, but all the different Judees products I received were 1 year or less shelf life. Useless for prepping or survival.

I will have to start with a *laugh* because the title says "no added colorings" but the last ingredient is "annatto extract" which "annatto extracts have been used for over two centuries as a food color, especially in cheese" ... granted it is natural and plant based, but you cannot say something was not added for color if something WAS added for color.

Aside from that silly tidbit ... The ingredients are recognizable and "natural". Supposedly the milk used to make the cheese comes from cows without the growth hormone. Plus.

Tastes as it should. Sometimes I will use a product like this, in quiche if I don't have fresh cheese. Yesterday, I used it in meatloaf. Personally, I love a dried product like this, especially in times like Covid where you do not know if fresh food will always be available. I always keep powdered dairy on hand in case of emergencies.

A nice product to keep on hand and recommend.

This could use a cost reduction and then I'd keep it as a staple in my kitchen. I had some expired cheese go bad in some mac & cheese dinners and this made a great way to save the macaroni (which doesn't often go bad unless it gets wet or bug infested). I used it over some steamed broccoli and it was good. It reminds me of the cheddar powder they use for chips or Pringles, and I do like that taste. It mixes well with milk and oils, and a little goes a long way, but it's still more expensive than it needs to be. Unless you're prepared to use a lot in the beginning, I recommend finding some airtight containers. I put some of it in an old Romano cheese canister, and it does a nice job of shaking it out properly, or dumping a larger potion with the dual purpose lid. The package is resealable, but it's too easy to get cheese in the seal which makes it a problem sealing.

Given the cost if you can live with it, there's not much advantage in buying the larger one over two small bags, so that might be the way to go to prevent waste. Add a little milk, some melted butter, and heat and you have a really nice cheese dip. You can then spice it up with ground peppers or mix with salsa. A mild recommend that would change to a stronger one if the price dropped by about a third.

Judee's sure has made some fine products! I tried the gluten free bread flour to make some focaccia bread and decided to try this cheese powder by added a sprinkling on top along with my cherry tomatoes. Oh my was this delicious! Um, 24 oz of cheddar cheese powder for is sharing size right? For those times when you want cheeto fingers without the corn puffs or maybe you are making your own mac n cheese because you've got the noodles but no craft... The possibilities are endless with this cheese powder. This is shelf stable and comes in a resealable package. Unfortunately for me, the zip seal had separated so I had to rely on some clips to close the bag. I really like that this is real cheese, no extra additives, no hormones, no gmo- all the things I try to avoid. As for salt content, I think its comparable to box macaroni and cheese, if you are comparing the sodium content on the labels, but be mindful of the serving size in this case.

Potent cheese powder

Which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Looking for a replacement for the blue box - they got worse when they removed all the artificial stuff - I went on a quest for cheese powder. This one's a suitably large bag of super fine cheese powder that puffed up a bit when I opened it for a delicious cheesy aroma.

I boiled a pound of pasta and found a recipe online to turn it into mac and cheese. I added a stick of butter, a cup of milk, a dash of butter, and a cup and a quarter of cheese powder. Too much cheese powder, as a matter of fact - it has a nice flavor but is a bit stronger than is really needed. Next time I'll omit the salt and drop it down to a cup of cheese powder and see how it goes.

I love that this is shelf stable and I can make my own unnaturally bright macaroni and cheese easily with this and a few other ingredients!

This powdered cheese is so good and so convenient. It's like the cheese that comes in mac and cheese boxes, but better taste. It's also less salty, though there is still plenty of salt in it.

It doesn't dissolve easily, and will end up in clumps if you dump it straight into your food. I make it into a sauce by putting it into a bowl and slowly adding in milk or sour cream until the lumps are gone. This stuff is also very fine, and gets everywhere like corn starch. So don't handle it anywhere you don't want a sticky powder!

I haven't found anything this isn't good on, yet. We put some in a large shaker and added it to our spice cupboard. I love it, and you get a lot of it in this bag. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!
