1866-1897

Nicholas Knauf starts his own grain and feed business in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Knauf opens a branch elevator in Brillion and sends 500 railroad carloads of wheat per year to the then thriving flour mill town of Milwaukee. Nicholas Knauf builds a grain elevator in Chilton, Wisconsin, which becomes his corporate headquarters. William N. Knauf (the 19-year-old son of Nicholas), Frank Tesch, and Milton Jones form a partnership. Under the subsequent ownership of Knauf & Tesch (K&T), the business supplies area farmers with clean, reliable seeds.

A naturally preserved product needs special attention to maintain maximum freshness. After opening bag, remove air from package and reseal tightly. Use food within 30 - 45 days. Store in a cool, dry location. Refrigerate or freeze for extended storage.. Bird Type Daily Feeding (Tablespoons) PARAKEET 1 - 3 Tablespoons Transition Instructions When introducing a new food, begin with a mixture of "old and new" food, gradually increasing the amount of new food over a 7 - 10 day period. This will prevent digestive upset as well as allow your pet to adjust to the new food. For best results discard any uneaten portion and clean food dish before next feeding. Fresh water should be available at all times. The following feeding amounts can be used as a starting point for one pet. Adjust the portions to maintain proper weight and if additional pets are fed.

I just opened my bag of eggcite seeds ,there is no rotten meat smell like some other people have said in reviews. I was worried about this because I read some reviews that said the seeds smelled terrible.. the bag was sealed and everything was fresh I think there’s some people that are just giving bad reviews . there is a slight smell but it smells like seeds not rotten at all.

This is the only brand of food my parakeet will eat. It has less colored tidbits in the mix than other similar brands of parakeet food, and my bird doesn’t eat whatever those red/green tidbits are....she tosses them out of her food dish. Just wish that my bag didn’t arrive with a 1/2 inch hole in the bottom of the bags. A lot of seed had come out in shipping.

All my parakeets have preferred this brand. My last two lived well into older age (16 years), and my 3 current ones are healthy and happy. I had switched to bulk purchase seed for awhile, but they started dumping it (entire contents of feeder on floor of cage, uneaten, and birds acted hungry). I added a supplement and that helped a bit, but I enventually threw the rest out and switched back to Egg-Cite. They waste none of it and seem as contented as a parakeet can be.

THIS IS NOT OK. I received less then half the see seeds that was advertised. Not only was the box the seeds arrived in damaged, it appears this was not brand new. There was a hole in the bag and someone had tried to tape over the hole, but the seeds kept falling out and the white tape that was covering the hole came loose in shipping. Please set this right.

1/5 for value since i received no seeds
1/5 for ingredient quality because i was missing more than half the bag.

However, I won't be buying it from Amazon anymore because both times I ordered the food the bag was busted inside the poly bag they shipped it in.
