Perfect for the cast iron pan

I have tried a few different boxed brands of cornbread and Krusteaz has the best in my opinion. The Honey Cornbread Mix has an authentic flavor. During the holidays I make a double batch and cook it in my Cast Iron Pan to get a great crust on it. I used to use butter in the bottom of the pan but switched over to vegetable oil after over heating the butter and it tastes slightly burnt on the crust. I do add slightly more melted butter in the batter than the directions call for but that is personal preference. I also recommend using unsalted butter too. This pack of 12 is also very affordable when comparing to the store prices as you can save quite a bit by buying this bulk package. I have made the honey butter topping and I do not feel this needs it but again personal preference. I always have left overs for a couple of days too.

Smells bad

As soon as I opened it there was a bad egg smell. It baked ok but the smell was still there and the texture seemed a bit off, it was kinda gummy. I order this brand in pancake mix all the time but I don't think I'll be ordering their cornbread mix again.

This makes the best cornbread I’ve ever tasted! Everyone in my family loves cornbread so I buy this regularly at a good price from Amazon. It’s moist, sweet & slightly crumbly. This mix will allow you to make delicious muffins even if it's the only thing you've ever prepared that goes in an oven. I make a dozen muffins once a week and that's the only reason I use the oven. I've been doing this for six months. I prefer the muffins crisp so I leave them in the oven for 25 minutes and use one of the acrylic muffin pans. Very simple cleanup. Sometimes I warm them in a toaster oven to make them crunchy. Very tasty and easy to make. Highly recommended.

I tried this corn bread mix for the first time this past Thanksgiving and I must admit, it was better than I thought. It has a slightly sweet taste to it which would make great muffins for breakfast. I usually try a made from scratch batch every year but we all know how 2020 is going and with only my small family plus limited resources I went with a box mix. This is so much better than Jiffy that I could never go back to it. Even my 8 and 10 year olds liked it and ate it without a fuss. If you like a sweeter corn bread then try this. I am now looking to find the southern style mix so I can give that a shot!

My go to cornbread mix

In my younger years I always made my cornbread from scratch. That is how my grandmother taught me and I did not like the sweetness of box mixes. Now that I cook less, my baking powder goes flat and I buy less ingredients to make every thing from scratch, so I tried Krusteaz and was pleasantly surprised. Plus my grandson loves it! That sold me. Now I seldom make scratch coirnbread anymore. I always keep a couple of boxes on Krusteaz on my pantry shelf. Although it is a bit sweeter than the cornbread I grew up on.

I normally use butter instead of the oil because it tastes better. I ran out of unsalted today so I used salted and let me tell you ..... It was like this cornbread was made for it. This is already my favorite because of the way it cooks up soft and fluffy and the honey gives it a sweetness that doesn't overpower But the salted butter gave it a kick. this bread is an easy 5 star without the kick.

We serve this corn bread at about every family event or holiday. We end up buying it in bulk at BJS because it's to hard to keep it on the table. I actually bought this when I was over seas to have my fiance "wife now" make it for her family because I could not be there with them during that time. So it's like a piece of me was there with them. You can not go wrong with this recipe. To add a little extra serve with some jam, I like strawberry rhubarb on it and occasionally a little extra honey.

I took a risk and bought the pack of twelve based on a lot of positive reviews on Amazon and the risk was worth it!

I baked a batch last night and was very pleased with the results. I made 24 mini-muffin sized corn-bread muffins and they got rave reviews. One whole egg, one third cup oil (or melted butter), and two-thirds of a cup of milk and about 15 minutes in the oven and they were perfect. While I followed the directions and sprayed the tray, I did struggle not breaking some of the mini-muffins when getting them out of the tray. So, the end presentation wasn't as good as I would have liked, but they still tasted very good and were well received.

They aren't too salty like some packaged cornbread I've purchased in the past, and the honey doesn't make them too sweet for us. I might try mixing in some corn next time I make them for a bit more fun.

I'm glad I've got 11 more boxes and I'm sure we'll enjoy eating the remainder (and maybe giving a box or two away as food-gifts!).
