No amount of weed could make this watchable

Where to even begin with how bad this movie is. The plot is thinner than tissue paper. There could have been a story at one point, but it feels like the writers couldn't finish one script, so jammed three together with dollar store tape and prayed the viewer would be too high to notice. Most of the characters are completely pointless, such as the housekeeper's 'hot brother' who seems to only exist so that the protagonist could fart in his bedroom. There is an attempt to caricaturize the ones essential to the story (the pastel-wearing trust fund bro, the pot-smoking slacker) but the effort falls pitifully flat and there is very little character growth from beginning to end. What passes for humor is crude, but fails to push the envelope past anything but childish and banal.
I watched the entire pathetic thing hoping for one redeeming moment. It never came. My life isn't worth much, but I feel like I deserve a refund for the 96 minutes lost to Lady of the Manor.

Don't spend the money - horrible. Can't give less than 1 star or I would.

I rented this and was mortified that I spent the money. Save the money and wait for this to be free. Making sure it wasn't me or my mood, I gathered my teenagers to watch and they couldn't believe I spent money on this either. They cringed during the entire movie. On the upside - it made for fun and entertaining conversations on the pure stupidity of the movie later. Horrible.

No manners here

This production is a terrible embarrassment for all involved, but must be a total career ending humiliation for the writers and producers. Years ago this would be described as a Made for TV movie, but it would be on the low end of that already low scale. This one is a waste of time.

THCNF: Too Horrible Could Not Finish

This movie has SO much cute potential. Beautiful set, lovely idea, but horrible script. Why ruin a lovely idea with needless cursing and stupidity?

It reminded me of Maid to Order, a 1987 movie starring Ally Sheedy as a spoiled out-of-work no-good who gets the chance to make a difference in people's lives. Like Maid to Order, this movie starts a likable actress who you want to see. It had good actors and a fairy tale premise. And like that movie, the script was written to be 'edgy' or 'modern.'

I wanted to see the main character believe in the movie. Instead Lynskey seems embarrassed by the whole idea. She is SO raunchy that I cannot stand to watch it. I applaud Judy Greer as the Lady of the Manor, her performance made me long even more for better choices surrounding the main character.

Good but still cringe

This was better than I thought it was going to be. I personally love all of the leads in this movie and like their acting. So even despite the trailer and low rating I knew I’d still enjoy it. Just watch it to see how funny Justin Long and Melanie Lynskey and Ryan Phillippe are together on the screen. Ryan plays the biggest d-bag ever!! Seriously pulls off the spoiled man-baby bro so well!!! I love Judy Greer, but I personally feel like this was not her shining gem here. It’s funny but seriously cringe at how they show how crude Melanie’s character can be. But it’s not the worst way to spend a little over an hour and a half on an afternoon.

This was funny and did a great job telling the story, with the exception of how they think we talk down here. That accent is very much only for the very old at this point and mainly Charleston. So only the ghost character should speak this way. They filmed here, should have taken some time to talk to locals. If you have an issue with accents then I would skip it, otherwise funny.

Light hearted laugh

I Watched this with family and we all found it enjoyable. Definitely will not be for everyone as the humor is reminiscent of comedies from the early 00s (fart jokes).
Judy Greer and Melanie Lynskey make an adorable duo, which I would love to see them work together again soon. I actually would have liked more focus on their friendship and a little less focus on Hannah's romance attempts. This is a great film when you are in the mood for something light hearted with some silly humor.

Beyond awful!

I was in the mood for something quirky and funny so I decided to give this movie a chance. I made it about 45 minutes before I gave up. Nothing funny to see here. I know the word “awful” is overused but in this case it’s the one word that comes to mind. How they managed to get these actors (some of them good, we’ve seen in them in other movies after all) to put their names to this trash I will never know. I’m embarrassed for them. Please save your time and money!
