Well, Leviton is the brand I usually go for and I love their clamping system for wiring the device. I purchased two of these for such a great price. However, I wired one GFCI with two regular receptacles going downstream that are "GFCI protect outlets".

Here is my complain, I used my tester and all three devices in the circuit says "Correct" when I test them for proper wiring. I used my meter and all three give me 120v. So all is good so far. However, when I test and "reset" the GFCI, the LED light flashes ONCE and the LED light states blank. NO GREEN LIGHT.

Has anyone else had this issue?

So Wiring is correct, all receiving 120v but the LED status light blinks ONCE at reset and is OFF BUT the devices are all working properly.

Defective?

UPDATE: 8/23/17: I spoke with a tech support representative last night at Leviton and I questioned the above statement. Per the tech, Leviton has "significantly" reduced the brightness of the LED status light and he recommended looking at the status light at NIGHT TIME and I did just that. The light is faintly green but it is functional and operating properly. Customers were complaining about the LED status light being TOO bright in their homes that was more of a distraction while siting in a darken room. Makes sense.

Also, the ONE BLINK of red status light the moment you reset the GFCI is NORMAL according to the representative that I spoke to.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase! Thanks!

Faulty out of the box!

I’ve purchased a few of these with good results until this one. Bought this one to replace a 13 yr old GFI that would trip occasionally. Read the instructions and replaced my old one lead-for-lead. Green ‘test’ light on and no test/reset regardless of what I did. Put the old one back in and threw this unit in the trash. China QC (or lack, thereof) strikes again. Won’t be purchasing more of these.

The photos show a matte, modern looking, screwless cover plate. What I received is a glossy cover plate with screws and rounded corners. I specifically chose this product because the cover plate would more closely match my other existing outlets.

China and poor quality, do not buy

I thought I was buying the best to replace one that would not reset after buying new house.
Replace just fine and worked for 6 months, which at that time this one would not reset. I checked the wires by insulation resistance and each wire on the load side was over 15 meg ohm between each wire and ground. Which are good reading if you don’t understand the testing. I bought 2 of these devices in case other gfic May go bad but the new one was the one going bad. I replaced with like kind and it worked fine. I Searched My purchase to make this review and don’t recommend buying, the box shows it is made in China so that probably explains the poor quality and I will be searching to buy spare made in USA if that is possible.... cheap labor and poor quality
In dry conditions these should last a lifetime

I have used Leviton products for years, and have always considered it a reliable, trustworthy brand. However, the inclusion of a cheap, inferior mounting screw ruined the entire project. Everything was done, wall box mounted, conduit run, unit wired. All that remained was to secure the GFCI unit into the box, put on the cover plate, and I would be done. Until while I was tightening the bottom mounting screw into the box, its head snapped off. And no, I was not using a power tool to drive the screw. I was hand driving it with a small Phillips screwdriver. I had been alternating between the top and bottom screws, slowly seating the outlet into the box, and almost had both screws driven home, when suddenly, the bottom one just snapped. I was installing the outlet into a surface mount PVC box. I know of no way to remove a screw from such a box when it breaks off flush with the hole, as this one did. If I tried to drill out the defective screw, or dig it out enough to grip it with a pair of needle nose pliers, I would have ruined it. Had I been a professional electrician on a job, especially one that was going to have to pass inspection, I would have had no alternative but to take everything out, and replace the box. But since I am a mere do-it-yourselfer, working on my own house, I could and did improvise a workaround. I took two 3.25" drywall screws and put them through the "Mickey Mouse ears" and screwed them into the back of the box to secure the bottom of the GFCI outlet. Of course that is a code violation and would not pass inspection, but fortunately I don't have to worry about that. But I don't like it at all. Whatever Leviton is saving by including such inferior hardware with its otherwise fine products cannot be worth the inconvenience and aggravation it causes to their customers. I have a picture to support my review, if there is any way to upload it.

Poor Product Production Control

I appreciate the REFUND of SOME of the money I paid for TWO Leviton GFCI. ('A Name I used to respect) After proper installation NEITHER GfCI units would reset. In fact, there was NO current flow thru either of the units EVER. And my location. This SURPRISED me. I could expect a possible failure of one GFCI. (( 'It happens)) But BOTH units!??? To say the least I am disappointed. So, I ordered another, MUCH CHEAPER, (possibly inferior brand) 2-Pack .. And they BOTH worked FIRST TIME, and continue to this minute. Shame on LEVITON!!! (Gene, Aberdeen, SD)

I really doubt this thing is legit. Installed (Yes I know how to install electrical outlets and have done it a ton )
Test/reset button neither will be pushed in. Double checked connections. No issues there. Also noticed won’t send power to next two outlets downstream from it. Returning it. The thing is,other big box stores sells this same brand but it never comes with face plate. Box it comes inside is also different. I dont know what s the deal with this thing. It could be a cheap

I got two of these because they are not tamper resistant and a good brand which I’ve used many of without problems. One worked fine. I liked the secure quick wire connect. The 2nd one in a bathroom kept tripping, so I traced all the wire connections to the load outlets and switches in another room and they all seemed ok. After several failed resets and testing efforts, I decided to get another one locally (different brand) and it worked ok. Am returning this one.

I am guessing I was unlucky and received a lemon. I could not get it to work. I had to reinstall the old one the works on and off. The only thing I can say besides it did not work is the old Leviton outlet was white on the back which made it easier to install in a dark corner. The white background makes the wires stand out.

The pass through circuit on these is 15a, not 20a... These are for 15a circuits; makes you wonder where are those exactly; not in a kitchen, not in a bathroom... If you have a single outlet on a breaker 15 and 20 and do not like the look of a 20a outlet, I guess... For me; these are effectively useless, so glad I caught this.

Nice Features but Questionable Reliability

I have these installed throughout the house per current electrical code by licensed electricians.

For seemingly no reason, these fail often. Randomly, not a certain location or time span, one will just die. Die, meaning no led, won't reset... goes from working perfectly fine to not working.

I've done the recommended test/reset cycle periodically and verified no arcing inside the boxes, no water, no loose wires, no issues with the electrical panel/breakers.

Fortunately they are easy to swap out but at the price they should last a long time, really a lifetime, with normal household use.

I'm sticking with the brand, at least for now, as I'd rather not have a bunch of mismatched outlets.
