who is lizzo..but...
I couldnt tell you a single song she sings, or acts but I have watched a few episodes so far and it actually brought up a few feelings I have myself. I am about 125 lbs. or something, but people of all sizes experience self doubt on feelings of our bodys. big or small, tall or short, we all have had an experience that festers self worth/doubt amongst a judgemental society.
As for the 1 star reviews, it really brings out the mentality that big is bad, be ashamed, put more clothes on, stop eating your unhealthy etc etc etc... judgemental people at its finest. People who are so quick to judge another without knowing their health issues, eating issues, sense of worth, their community they have to live around are simply one starring to add to the negativity of this unhealthy belief that anyone different is bad.
I found the episodes so far made me feel less ashamed of me, not that i have anything to be ashamed of, but that through bullying in school, peoples words that are said simply to hurt and make me feel terrible, ugly, too tall, too skinny, etc dont mean a thing. A bit of empowerment for ones self can make a difference, and this show does just that. For anyone that has ever been belittled, or made to feel less..it will help.

Love Yourself and Lizzo!
I already am a fan of Lizzo, but this show has made me a life-long fan of hers! Her compassion and dedication to show the world Big Grrrrls are beautiful is inspiring. She wants all these ladies to believe in their power and beauty, and it shows. Say what you will about "reality competition shows" being fake, but this series feels genuine each episode. I shed tears, laughed, and felt the performance nerves along with the ladies during their journey. Thank you Lizzo & Big Grrrrls for being an inspiration to everyone who struggles with self-esteem and finding their place in the world!

Team work, positivity, and dance...
In Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls series, Lizzo searches for new dancers. This show is more than just discovering new dancers- it’s about being part of a team, moving forward from life’s difficulties, and being your authentic self. If you are anti-people-loving-themselves-for-who-they-are or a bitter body shaming troll, this series is not for you. If you are looking for something positive with lots of energy and generous amounts of swearing, this is it.

The core focus is dancing and rehearsing. Some other elements include various style of dance, choreography, honesty, humor, positivity, team work, behind the scenes at final concert, the challenges being a dancer, being a dancer with different body types, cultural expectations, emotions of making the team (or not), dancer etiquette, injuries, how to deal with the negatives in life, and more. This is not your typical reality style show where it’s all drama, pit people against each other, but there are a few moments. My only critique is this could have been cut down into less episodes/time. I watched over a few days as I felt it moved a little slow, but perhaps that’s due to this not being my typical watch. If you are going to watch any episodes, make sure they are the first and last, they will leave you smiling.

Episode One: We meet the 13 competitors who arrive from various areas around the USA. We learn a little about each lady and how they got into dancing, see their skills in a group dance and one on one, learn who makes the cut, and one gets a surprise.

Episode Two: The ten ladies who made the first round move into the house. We learn more about the lady’s personal lives. They dance to Tanisha Scott’s choregraphy with a live marching band.

Episode Three: The ladies have a session with sensual movement coach Rashida Khanbey and make a music video with Nneka Onuorah.

Episode Four: The ladies do a photo shoot and a dance choreographed by Chawnta’. Lizzo’s friend from high school makes an appearance. Body-positivity and societal norms are discussed.

Episode Five: The ladies find their stage persona with the help of Lizzo’s glam team- Jason Rembert, Alexx Mayo, and Shelby Swain. One lady falls mid-performance and one finds being part of the team is a must.

Episode Six: Tanisha teaches the choreography to Juice. The ladies are assessed on choreography and ability to adapt to different stage elements.

Episode Seven: Stamina and endurance is worked on with the help of Ajahzi, some ladies don’t make the cut.

Episode Eight: Due to unforeseen event, the ladies head to Minnesota for Lizzo’s concert.

“It’s hard to love yourself in a world that doesn’t love you back.”
“Exhale everything you’ve been through this past year.”
“Because of women like us putting ourselves in those uncomfortable situations, we’re gonna change the narrative, so the next generation’s gonna grow up and never have to, like worry about the things that we’re worrying about.”

Parental guidance/trigger warnings (this is a small amount but gives you an idea): A decent amount of swearing, fat phobia, transphobia, flashing lights (last episode during the concert was most intense), praying/God talk, adoption, father killed by police, death from COVID, eating disorders, racism, George Floyd.

I laughed, I cried, I came away a better person
I always knew Lizzo was an amazing artist but I was overwhelmed, in a good way, by the positivity she brings out of others and herself. I laughed at times, and at others, I deeply connected with these women trying to overcome the limited concepts of beauty that our society has been stuck in for way too long. During these moments I cried and went deeper into myself to find that I too can love myself, even being different. Lizzo, this movie was more than just finding dancers, it is a movement of self-love and self-acceptance. That makes you the most beautiful one of all.

Lizzo is my idol
Lizzo, you should know how much this show has been helping me and how much it means to me. I used to love dancing when I was a little girl, but i stopped from all the hate i got when i started becoming plus size and curvy. I am now 170ish lbs and struggle so much with loving myself as the size i am. I have struggled with eating disorders since i was 8 years old, and every day struggle with feelings of self-hate. Seeing you, and others on your show also, out there, dancing, and being your beautiful selves, has inspired me to take up dancing again! You are my idol, because you are unashamedly yourself. And it's not always perfect, but you embrace that, you embrace your humanity and it is something i wish i saw more of. I am beginning to love myself, just as i am, size, shape, and all. And a huge reason why that is possible is from seeing you, and others like us, out there doing your thing and giving it your all. I hope you somehow see this, and just know how much you mean to me, and I'm sure millions of others as well. Thank you.

Sooo Touching!!
This show was sooo touching! Each Woman sharing her story, and Lizzo connecting with them had me tearing up every episode! And I love how they didn't demonize the person who could seemed problematic. This show definitely deserved an Emmy!! I loved seeing the sisterhood, growth on each of their journey's, and the bomb ass dancing!!
