I recently started shopping around for a vertical mouse after developing carpal tunnel. I bought a cheaper option before this one, but had to return it the day that I got it because its wireless receiver was so poor that I couldn't use it without a USB hub or extension to keep the receiver right next to the mouse.
Now on to the Logitech MX. This may be the best mouse I've ever had the pleasure of using, at least for ordinary activities on my PC and for games that don't require much more than the mouse and a few keys on the keyboard.
The ergonomics are on point. I never noticed how uncomfortable regular computer mice are to use until I got my hands on a vertical mouse. My wrist sits in a more natural position, the MX is large enough that it fills the entirety of my large palms, and the shape of the mouse is made in such a way that your hand sits as naturally as the wrist does.
The primary buttons and scroll wheel took me about an hour to get used to simply because I've used standard mice for the last twenty years. After that time, though, there's virtually no difference in the ease of use between both formats. There are two buttons, one for page back and page forward, directly above where the thumb sits, giving you a comfortable and more convenient way to navigate web pages. There's also a button on the top of the mouse, easily accessible by the thumb, that adjusts the speed of the mouse cursor. I believe that these speeds can be configured with the Logitech Options application, but I haven't tried.
One marketed feature of this mouse that I don't really see the value in is for gaming. Actual gaming mice have several buttons on them, sometimes up to a dozen. All of these buttons should be remappable and be able to have presets saved for different games. The Logitech MX is, while incredibly comfortable and worth the asking price, not a gaming mouse. In terms of mappable buttons, it's a standard mouse on a more comfortable to use platform. If you're looking for a vertical mouse made for gaming, this isn't it.
One last thing that I'd like to point out is that this mouse has three separate options for connecting to a computer. There's a port built into the front of the mouse to plug a USB-C cable into. While mainly for charging the in-built battery, this port can also be used to connect the mouse to your computer. There's the standard receiver dongle that will plug into any USB-A(standard) port. Then there's the feature I wasn't expecting. This mouse has Bluetooth functionality, meaning that it can connect to any PC with Bluetooth, as well as tablets and phones that allow the use of a mouse pointer.
This item was bought on Amazon and was refurbished. I have now bought a few refurbished products from Amazon, and, to date, they have always been exactly as described with no problems. Each one that I have received has always looked brand new. Now, I know from some of the reviews this has not always been the case, but, for me, they are batting 100%.
I have the device connected directly to my Lenovo Yoga 7i via bluetooth, no dongle. The ability to do this was one of my purchase criteria. There doesn't appear to be any settings that enable a power savings mode, which with this being a rechargeable device I assumed was the cause of the issue. After digging deeper I found the issue by navigating to Device Manager>Bluetooth>Intel Wireless Bluetooth. Right click on the device and select Properties. Now select the Power Management tab, and deselect the box for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Select OK and close everything out. Once I did this the mouse never "went to sleep" and is just as responsive and accurate as a wired mouse.
I hope this helps.
The mouse is high quality, and most importantly it is convenient. Using it isn't a big switch from a regular mouse (though I wouldn't use it for gaming). As per my wrist pains- this is definitely a significant improvement over a standard mouse and it has helped with the pain, though it didn’t eliminate the issue altogether, and on an especially long computer day, my wrist still has severe pains in the end of the day.
I also sometimes use a a Wacom Tablet for wrist pains, and it is better then a vertical mouse, but presents it’s own issues.
Overall, I’d say this is an excellent product and probably as good as a vertical mouse can be.
