Mouse wheel loose and loud

EDIT: (01-31-2018): I used the mouse for a full day yesterday and I can't take it any more. Returned it today for a refund.

EDIT (01-29-2018): Replacement arrived today. It is only slightly better, the mouse wheel is still noisy and loose. This will be my last Logitech product. Another company down the drain.

EDIT (01-26-2018): Well this stinks, the older model is out of stock. So today I sent it in for a replacement, well at least there is no charge to ship it back. Unfortunately, now I am reading that other people are having the same problem with the wheel, even after multiple replacements; sounds like Logitech either cheapened up or it is just a bad design. Well, went to pick up more shipping envelopes today as I am not too optimistic that I will be sending the next one back as well. Stay away from this mouse.

I have the older version of the M510 and really like it. The mouse wheel on this new version (910-002533) is very loose side to side and very noisy, and the mouse click travel is short.....probably going to return it if I can still find the older version (910-001822) and it doesn't cost more to ship it back than the mouse is worth.

USB receiver stopped working after 2-1/2 months

I really liked this mouse and I thought since I paid a little extra I would be getting a better product. My last, less expensive Logitech mouse failed after about a year because the USB receiver stopped working. I hoped this one would be different. This one worked great for about 2-1/2 months and then the mouse stop receiving input from the USB and completely stopped working. Changing batteries did not help. I even cleaned the USB receiver and nothing. I learned by trial and error that taking out the USB receiver and then re-inserting it would solve the problem. At first this helped and I would get connection again for a few days. Eventually I needed to do this every couple hours and then it finally went completely dead and no amount of re-inserting helped. Of course I questioned my actual USB port (Macbook) thinking it was defective but when I tested it with various other USB inputs, it works like a charm. Thus I have come to the conclusion that Logitech makes defective USB receivers so that buyers have to purchase a new one more often. Prove me wrong, Logitech and send me a replacement that doesn't go bad after 3 months.

Find the correct software

This is my 3rd Logitech programmable mouse. I got spoiled being able to use mouse buttons for other options (copy, paste & cut). This one was replacing one that just wore out after years of use and probably abuse. One M510 for another M510.
Evidently each mouse has specific usb receiver. The receiver is cleverly hidden, stored under the battery cover with nothing obvious in the instructions about where to find it.
This M510 would not program using the other M510's software. Not a big deal just download the latest software which didn't work. After downloading 3 versions of the software for programming options I found previous versions and after another 2 tries found one that worked (3 hours of aggravation).
Once running with the correct software it is a great, very convenient mouse. This is not a retailer problem it is a Logitech problem.

So Nice To Have 'Back / Forward' Buttons Again!

So, I purchased this Logitech M510 mouse because it's compatible with a MAC PC, along with my OS version. Upon on receipt, unwrapped, ensured batteries were set properly, plugged in the USB wireless reader. PC recognized it immediately. I had to go to Logitech site to download the 'options' program to set the back/forward buttons. That was easy, and the entire process of setting this mouse up took approximately five (5) minutes.

I couldn't be more pleased. After using Apples white mouse for two years, because there wasn't anything out there that would work, or was compatible, for a MAC, it's GREAT to be able to use the back / forward buttons again. The Apple mouse was pure manual, having to move the cursor up to the back / forward arrows on a website, if you wanted to go back or forward. Just a lot of unnecessary moving around of the cursor...IMHO.

If I have any issues with this mouse in the future, I'll come back and update this review. But for now, I'm pretty darned happy and content with this Logitech mouse. I would recommend this product for anyone using the Apple mouse, and want their back / forward button operations back.

Durable enough to throw through a wall when your having a bad day

I don’t normally write a lot of reviews but I had a particularly bad day at work today and a direct result of that bad day was testing the durability of a Logitech M510 mouse. Won’t get into too much detail but I had a long exchange of e-mails with a co-worker asking for information where the co-worker chose to be rather inefficient with their responses and asked me to look for information that they could easily supply me by just walking out front and looking at the number plate on the building they were in… I asked for the address of the customer they were working with so I could ship them a piece of equipment. After three emails they suggested I google the address and that is when my trusty mouse took a quick trip across the room. The attached pictures are the end result, the mouse still functions perfectly (just some white scuffs from the drywall) 10/10 on the durability scale, would recommend.

Good ergonomics, but didn't last as long as expected: double clicks after 2 years

Really love this mouse for ergonomics. It has a great feeling, shape, & weight.
Not a gamer here but I have a heavy use 12-16 hours usage daily...
Left-click button started double-clicking after 2 years. That's typically the micro-switch failing; not a huge surprise as all my previous logitechs have had the same issue but generally after 4-5 years; 2 years is a short period of time and from other users comments that's not unique.

Update: For those comfortable with a soldering iron, this M510 mouse turns out to be really easy to open (two screws are located under the batteries), and the micro-switches are easy to unsolder and solder back; I never use the two side buttons so I just used one of the side micro-switches to replace the faulty left button. The mouse is now working like a charm.

Logitech M510 BLUE - Either Logitech have gone downhill or this item was faulty, though the seller won't accept that. The scroll does it's own thing- ie continues to scroll on it's own. The select button (left click) doesn't allow you to do anything other than click - you can't copy and paste via this button nor can you rotate objects in games as it just wanders off and does it's own thing. The receiver can't connect unless extremely close. Overall it's totally useless and very frustrating to use. On the plus side it feels nice in the hand and looks very attractive, BUT I need a mouse that works not an ornament. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS.

Have had this mouse for a couple of weeks and while it feels good in the hand and looks great, it really doesn't work very well. I use it for all things including games but trying to move the cursor around the screen is a nightmare. You want to move it an inch and it either jumps across the screen or refuses to move. If you lift the mouse and move it around it starts working again but soon the cursor will start sticking and jumping again. While I will keep this mouse as a spare it is too frustrating to continue to use. I've had a Logitech wireless mouse previously and have not had these issues but this has persuaded me to go for a wired mouse again to see if that helps. A shame because the mouse looks and feels great in the hand but I could not recommend it, especially for games.

I dislike the feel of handling it as I've quite small hands and i could tell fairly swiftly my fingers would hurt from stretching to keep clicking , that's why i got a clunky brick type ergonomic sideways type instead which is perfect.
