Entertaining movie, predictable though

Good movie, worth a watch. The twist for the story is predictable. Forgot who said it, but yeah the movie is pretty much like Zombieland with monsters. Only really two complaints about it. One like I said predictable. If you've seen a decent amount of SciFi/world gone wrong movies, you already know what's more or less going to happen. Two, and this is personal but found the main character annoying for most of the movie. The acting wasn't bad it's the personality of the character. The whole scared of his own shadow troupe but has to step up and learn to be a hero. Still recommend the movie though.

just watched it!!! It was hilarious 😂and a lot of action. Dylan O'Brien brought to the role someone believable, vulnerability, brave and romantic and brave. This is okay for kids to watch. I bought the movie, and I rarely buy movies. If you've seen Dylan O'Brien in "The assassin" and you liked him, this is a whole other side of his acting. He's awesome.

Honestly better than expected and had good humor I kind of liked the plot twist *spoiler alert* he went off for one thing and came back with an appreciation for what he already had. And the dog was perfect addition so was Michael Rooker. As always Dylan gave a great performance. Literally the best movie to come to on Amazon cinema/early access/new release. Tried to watch some of the other straight to streaming movies and they have been painfully awful.

Okay, I literally only watched for Dylan Obrien and I was not disappointed! As someone who never saw Zombieland I cant say much on the comparisons its getting. I guess it does look similar but I thought this moving was actually very moving. There is a lot of heart and the monsters didn't look cheap at all! It was a fun adventure movie that I definitely think is worth the purchase because I'll definitely watch it again!

More to this movie than you think

On the surface this is just a guy battling monsters to get to his girl. But on a deeper level it is the classic hero's journey, and along the way he grows into the man he is meant to be. One of the basic themes is that you cannot hide from the monsters. Get out on the surface and live life - we were not meant to hide from the rain, the trees and most of all the people around us. And those who promise us things are really there to take from us - "the food stealers".

A boy and his dog Boy.

I started watching this movie at around 10 this morning. Just finished watching it 8 hours later. I took a couple breaks in the middle because it really was not very engaging. We've seen all this before. Felt like I was watching Zombieland again but with a little less energy. The second half did get much better and held my attention. I think Dylan O'Brian is quite engaging; he was charming on Teen Wolf and recently surprised me quite a bit with a scene he did from the Social Network, it was excellent! In this instance he did a fine job of carrying a kind of nothing special movie. I did enjoy it, just not $20 worth of enjoyment.

Finally something entertaining, uplifting, and funny

Loved this movie. Entertaining, fast paced. Didn't take itself too seriously. Really funny in parts. Occassionaly and surprisingly emotional. Dylan O'Brien makes a loveable, awkward simp. Best part of the movie was the interplay between O'Brien and Arianna Greenblat and Michael Rooker. (Loved Minnow's character!) While some of the lines (and the special effects) were at times a bit cheesy--the movie embraces the cheesiness, allowing it to hug the line between reality and comedic allegory (think Princess Bride). The type of movie I thoroughly enjoyed the first time, and actually look forward to seeing a 2nd or 3rd time (which is rare for me).

It took 3 days to watch this movie due to the lack of any good parts that would keep me interested. I made myself watch but it seemed the plot was "how to be afraid and survive in an apocalypse". The main character is just plain irritating. He gets knocked down several times and stays there on the ground, somehow he manages to jump up and kills the monster. All the other characters are somewhat good but they don't have many lines. The dog "Boy" was really good and that was without any lines. I would not recommend this movie.
