Highly Offensive for the Rating
Verified purchase
I just purchased this movie and have spent all afternoon trying to figure out how to get my money back. The first dance/music scene was highly offensive. It was sacrilegious and vulgar. The rating did not reflect the content. Shame on me for not looking up reviews outside of Amazon before waisting $19.99.

This movie might have been good. There is a very offensive scene at the beginning of the concert. Half naked nuns and Jlo wearing a cross across her boobs and crotch. Another scene has her at a school dance in another inappropriate outfit. Any real school would have asked her to leave no mater who she was. But wardrobe offenses aside the story idea was good but was not done well. I get the feeling they just wanted to put this one out and did not finish the edit and reshoot portion. Actors were not believable as a love couple. Owens is the more developed but still very weak as a character. Jlo has no character Bad script perhaps. Dont waist time.

Cheesy self promotion

Movie is okay for entertainment but man, Jennifer Lopez is trying too hard to promote herself as a singer, she probably practiced hard to speak Spanish without accent just to underline her Latina heritage ( rolling eyes) … J-Lo May look good for a woman my age, but it’s ridiculous making a movie about her being this pop princess - she’s not that amazing of a singer , I prefer her acting skills to be honest! I mean to each their own and it’s a cute movie but Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson are no longer the thirty-some year old humans… why not have them play more realistic and believe people?

All in all, if you ignore the above mentioned, it’s an ok movie to watch when you have nothing better to do - I regret having paid $20 , it really makes the actors seem desperate enough to star in just about anything! Sure, she’s pretty but wow… maybe it’s time to adjust them to more age appropriate roles finally? I’m so sorry for being the one!

Save your money... watch something else

I would give 1/2 a star only because I like Jennifer Lopez.. I wasn't expecting an award winning film, just a funny RomCom to watch on a Saturday night. This was horrible... the script.. not much going on.. seemed more like a long video montage with real TV show hosts. Not much chemistry either between Jennifer and Owen.. zero zip nada.

I love me a Jennifer Lopez rom-com and I usually adore Owen Wilson's comfy on screen presence. I was so excited to watch them pair up that I decided to pay $20 to watch it sooner than later after waiting a month since seeing the first trailer.

I was sure it had to be good since Jennifer Lopez has been in other films I've really enjoyed and so had Owen Wilson (Maid in Manhattan, Wedding Planner, Second Act, Shall we dance, etc for J-Lo and I Spy, Night at the Museum, Midnight in Paris, Loki for Owen Wilson). Maybe it was the $20 price tag... but this movie fell SO short.

It didn't feel so much like a movie but an odd mixture of an instagram live and a documentary. The dialogue was boring, there wasn't much action or excitement with the plot because you get all the highlights in the trailer, and it had a false sense of suspense with the Math Competition Climax. Ultimately it felt like a commercial. Look I am trying to GET AWAY from all the social media excitement, instagram lives, advertisements, promotional YouTube videos etc that to see them added purposely into a movie was really disappointing.

Ultimately it didn't hold my attention and I was more interested in cooking my chicken tikka masala than I was in watching this flick. I'd pass and save your money!

The #1 Romantic Movie of the 21st Century

"Marry Me" is an outstanding film. It allows for spontaneity via the discovery of romance through unconventional paths. The film excels on several levels. Firstly, the protagonist (Jennifer Lynn "J.Lo" Lopez) is a celebrity singer devastated by the news of her soon-to-be husband's infidelity with her assistant that emerges just moments before her wedding. In her wedding gown onstage in front of over ten million television and online viewers, the pop star gives a concise commentary about spontaneity and love before a live audience. Then she spontaneously weds a man (Owen Wilson) in that audience. While it is clear that the stranger is physically the antithesis of her fiancé, her antagonists (the paparazzi and media) criticize and question her judgment for marrying a random guy. Before the media, she again discusses the spontaneity of marriage, this time with the man she married on live television. Unbeknownst, they are in sync. But, as she becomes aware, he is not in it for her fame and fortune. Rather, he has a set of principles and lives a disciplined life as a father and math teacher. He reminds her that she can manage quite well without people at her disposal. Meanwhile, their fictitious marriage transforms into a real romance as they become acquainted by spending quality time together, exchanging constructive questions, and working in concert as a team.

Nice rom-com

If you like the genre, this is a very pleasant movie. Likable leads, unlikely story to be sure, but what rom-com is not unlikely? Fun to watch.
