If you are an avid baker, this is a great deal on CLEAR vanilla for those types of products where you're looking for this particular vanilla flavor.

HINT: If you are looking for the clear vanilla referenced by Christina Tosi for any of the Birthday Cake line of goodies - this is what you want. You'd end up spending a great deal more to get enough clear vanilla at your local store and it stores well.

For most any other types of baking, you're not going to want clear vanilla, but imitation vanilla extract/essence (brown in color) or pure vanilla - at least if you're in the market for liquid varietals.

What I expected from this product was a cheap vanilla flavor, akin to maybe a low quality vanilla candy. What this product turned out to be was surprisingly versatile for the price. Of course, nothing will ever come close to the rich flavor of real vanilla but this imitation does a pretty good job given its price/quantity. What I would personally use this for are baked goods but I just threw some of this flavoring in my hot chocolate just now and its quite pleasant!

What I love the most is the lack of preservatives and other chemicals which is why I sought this product out.

Overall, I would recommend this vanilla imitation if you're looking for something simple and cheap. Nothing will beat real vanilla but this is a great bang for your buck.

I've tried other imitation vanilla, but I came back to McCormick. It has the best flavor of all the imitation I've tried. Finding a clear vanilla was a bonus. I bake a lot for other people, so the size of this bottle is such a great value. I used to buy real vanilla, but it go so expensive whatever the brand. (So I make my own now). McCormick immitation is the next best thing to real vanilla.

I didn’t think I would ever buy imitation vanilla but with the price of real vanilla skyrocketing I just can’t afford to do much baking with the real stuff anymore. Rather than give up a favorite activity with my kids or settle for flavorless baked goods I’ve gone to imitation vanilla. It tastes good and I can’t tell the difference between this an the real extract except in very delicate items or where vanilla is just the only flavor at all like frosting (although this does make a lovely, although terribly unhealthy, bright white frosting if you use shortening instead of butter). I’m glad this product is available and it’s a great value but I’ll be happy to go back to real vanilla when prices come down.

........so I'm using it. I read a Cook's Illustrated article comparing real/pure vs. imitation vanillas and the result was there was no discernible difference when used in baked goods. Due to increased global demand (and that storm a few years ago), vanilla beans have skyrocketed in price. So when vanilla isn't a featured ingredient of the recipe and in most baked goods, I'll use this product over my beans and pure extract. HIGHLY recommend this product! : )

I cook and bake alot. Authentic,pure vanilla extract has gotten so expensive. If you bake frequently, the price has gotten out of reach for many. I use this imitation vanilla in pretty much everything - hot cereal as well as so many baked products. I love it.

I'm very happy with this extra large bottle of clear vanilla flavor. I haven't tasted it yet but it's McCormick so I'm sure it's good. It came sealed and packed well. If it isn't good, I'll let ya know! But for now, 5 stars.
