My rambunctious Vizsla annoys my two cats. Thought I’d try this pet gate so the cats can still see/watch me while I work from home. My cats haven’t tried or doesn’t even seem interested in jumping the gate...and the dog can watch them and whine. LOL

Seems to be well built and installation was simple. Best of all, the white gate looks good! ...I like that there aren’t any visible logos...just a clean looking white gate.

So I research alot before I buy anything! I needed a gate that our Jack Russell/Beagle mix couldn't eat, knock over, jump over, or climb. I also needed one that we could walk through without getting stuck or have to turn sideways. Some had narrow walk throughs. And one I could open with one hand. I was worried about some of the latches I saw breaking, and I was concerned that the pressure mounted ones wouldn't hold up to our 36 lb dogs extreme excitability/ need to get through the gate. This one did it all. Really. It also has the option to wall mount instead of pressure mount and comes with those fittings. We all absolutely love it. It's very sturdy, hasn't budged a millimeter. Latch still works great. It's automatic swing closed, opens both ways. Comes with an extra section which we didn't need right now. The cats jump over it or wait beside it for us to open it for them. So glad we got this! Well worth the money and time I spent looking for the right one! You absolutely can't go wrong. (Except measure the opening first of course!)

Good features and value, but has a structural weakness

About the tallest gate available, positive closing with latches top and bottom, most dogs will not be able to force this open. Opens both ways, which is unusual. The motion to open is to pull a little latch (easy) and lift the gate (against a pretty strong spring), I have no real problem opening it but my wife and kids do though it got easier with familiarization. Despite positive features, about the lowest price for a metal gate so that's good. However, mine broke after about 6 months. That strong spring against which you lift the gate to open it is in the upper hinge, and it's in a plastic barrel. Because the motion to open the gate involves torque against this hinge, the base of the barrel broke off. There is no way to repair it. With the hinge broken, you can still close the gate but when you lift it to open the whole gate ends up in your hands. The company sent me a new one no problem, all I had to provide them was a receipt. The replacement lasted two years before breaking the same way. Nevertheless, I'm ordering another one because in operation this is the best gate for me - two way operation, quite tall, and positive closing against my dog's best efforts to rip it open.

I got this gate to keep my dogs out of their "training area." I am a competitive dog trainer, so, yes, I have a dog training room. This gates quite sturdily built. Great materials. I was a bit concerned about the previous reviews saying that the latch broke, but I think those people probably didn't figure out that you have to push and lift at the same time and the rough handling that resulted from that is what caused the issues with the latch.

I got the 39" version since I have a Great Dane. It comes up to my chest, though I am five feet nothing, but that is where my Dane will come to when he is grown, so I am quite happy with it.

It looks harder to put together than it is. It is easy to set up with just one person.

The only caveat I would add is that due to the required lift and push button to open, it is probably not great for a high traffic/in and out area.

I thought I had ordered the graphite finish (list price was a few bucks cheaper), but a white one came instead, which is fine with me. At 39" the gate is too tall for my large cat to jump over it, the slick finish doesn't give him a toehold to climb it, and the frame sides keep him from sneaking past my legs. The installation is a little fussy, with having to make multiple adjustments to the pressure nuts, but the gate fits nice and snug in the doorway. The aperture is a close fit for the width of my "rollator"-style walker, so eventually the paint will probably get scratched from the walker's hardware (the 19" gate door width cited in the description is for the swinging part; the opening is a few inches wider). Because the walker's front wheels swivel, I have to back up through the doorway and pull the walker over the bar across the bottom of the gate's frame. The closures at top and bottom latch completely when the gate is allowed to swing shut in an arc of about 30 degrees, and it announces your entry or exit with an almost musical "BUN-N-N-G" sound (kind of like those large tubular bell wind chimes that used to be popular). The process of lifting the gate and manipulating the top latch simultaneously to open it is awkward, but do-able. If you have a sneaky cat like mine, he will try to paw or push the gate open, so DO NOT just gently close the gate "to" (as the saying goes), if you want to keep a resourceful problem-solver confined.

UPDATE: If, after a few weeks of use, the top latch stops catching fully on its own, it's not broken. It just means that vibration or leaning on the gate has pushed the frame out of plumb. Readjust the nuts on the sides of the frames, and that will solve the problem.

UPDATE (2020): The top hinge on this gate broke late this spring (that's the planned obsolescence of plastic parts, for you). My son drilled a hole in the plastic hinge housing and threaded up from the bottom a long bolt with a nut. If the nut is accidentally tightened too much, the gate won't open, so it's not a perfect fix, but the gate is still functional.

I had initially posted that I liked this gate however now that I have ad 2 of them and BOTH have broken at the same place and moth broke at about the 6-month mark I can no longer recommend it. Both gates broke on the upper pivot point. The small plastic collar that surrounds the set screw craked in the exact same spot. Obviously a flaw in the design. It broke as a user simply raised the gate as part of the required opening movement. Not at all reliable.

The slide to open the gate itself on one of the gates I bought has been troublesome since the start, and now doesn't slide out completely. However I messaged contact support and they're sending me a new gate :)

I like the product - good height and easy to install.
The gate got knocked off when my two dogs bumped into it roughhousing and the black thing on one of the pressure mounts is gone. I dunno where it is and doubt I can get another.

We use this to keep my son's medium-sized dog in his bedroom at night (dog jumps over lower gates, to chase cat). It was easy to install, seems to be staying securely put, no danger of the dog pushing it loose. It is very easy to open/close once you get the hang of it (it does take a while to get the knack of it), although it makes a rather loud metallic clang each time so possibly not the best for something like a baby's room where you might not want a loud noise sometimes.
