5.0 out of 5 starsI am very sensitive what I buy for our fur babies, they mean the world to me.
Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2016
I am very sensitive what I buy for our fur babies, they mean the world to me. I have tried the Costco version, but find that they tend to give our border collies diarrhea, so I am only going to give them these Milk Bones in the future.

Our vet said that these biscuits are a good treat, that not only makes our dogs happy, it actually helps to keep down the tartar on their teeth, and have some vitamins as well. I feed them a Milk Bone after their dinner to help clean their teeth.

Our dogs weigh between 43 to 47 pounds and I buy the large size of Milk Bones. I have this order under subscribe and save every 2 months so that I don't run out.

I hope that you have found my opinion and images to be helpful with your decision process to purchase this item. If this is the case, and where Amazon asks if this review helpful, please click "yes".

1.0 out of 5 starsMy dogs like them....but
Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2018
My dog loves them so good enough BUT.... not from Amazon but at xmas there was a really good buy and i got 5 boxes. Since I've had problems in the past with bugs (thinking from somewhere in my house), I wrapped them in garbage bags, separately. When I open a new box they go into an airtight container. I take out a pound at a time and put them in a smaller jar, easier to grab and my pups know both containers. I feel with the two airtight storage options that I would avoid those darn bugs. I got them again on the 4th box in the 4th month. I was so frustrated! I spoke with a friend who happens to be a vet in So Cal and they have had the same problem. The bugs are in THE BISCUITS!! This has happened several times and I would never have guessed that. So, only order 1 at a time and keep them stored properly or you will be as frustrated as I was/am. I should stop buying them but I like that they are hard and think they are good (as a treat can be) for their teeth. So ONE BOX AT A TIME and only small boxes if you have a smaller dog. Or better, don't buy so your dog won't ingest something live in some form.
☆☆☆UPDATE☆☆☆
I have spoken with the Milk-Bone customer service and was offered no solution (but a coupon) or responsibility even though I repeated several times that I don't want coupons, I wanted answers. You decide if you want to support this product but with the tepid response both on the phone and in email, no more bones.
FYI, this has happened on 2 different coasts, 3 times over 20+ years. It took my friend, the vet, to help me understand it was not me or anything I did OR anything to do with cleanliness, they're IN the biscuits at time of purchase. I hope this ends your guilt about getting bugs in your home, you're doing nothing wrong and your house is clean. And yes, I feel stupid for not realizing that the bones are infested but who would think that? Thank you my wonderful former veterinarian.
Hope the pictures help.
Search Milk-Bone Biscuits with bugs and see how many videos there are. No wonder they don't say anything when you contact them about the problem. Very sad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Our big dogs love these
Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2018
Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)Style: LargeVerified Purchase
We buy a box of these every month or so, our big dogs love them! They know they're supposed to sit before they get a treat so every morning they'll be sitting in the kitchen with big goofy grins on their faces waiting for their bones while I grab a cup of coffee. These bones are crunchy and seem to help with keeping our dogs teeth nice and clean, breath not so much.

There isn't any liner inside of the box, it's just the bones inside of the box taped shut so we usually just transfer the bones into gallon baggies for garage refrigerator storage then fill a treat container for the house as needed. Breakage during shipping isn't that bad, the dogs love the broken ones just as much as the non broken. When they hear the treat container our two house ponies come running!

5.0 out of 5 stars good for big dogs
Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2016

The media could not be loaded.
We have a 3 year old great pyrenees who we got from someone a year or so ago. He is not only a wanderer, but being raised hands off, when he met our neighbors with young boys who scratched on him all the time, he kinda decided he likes them better. We have asked them to shoo him back over here. We live in the country, it is not as if they live close by. We cannot even see their house. So now, my husband says I am bribing the dog. I said ... YES, I am. The neighbors don't feed him so I have at least one thing up on them. He comes home for dinner and if he comes home at others times, I give him these Milk Bones as treats. We are starting to win the battle. I would just throw my hands up at get rid of him all together, but he keeps the coyotes away for everyone.

Anyway ... good price and value. Better then local grocery store prices. Ample sized box could last 1-3 months for us. Arrived super quick. Good size for big dogs like Toby the Great Pyrenees. They are 4" long x 1-1.5" wide.

Would purchase again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Price...for a box of bugs
Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2018

I have bought these for years but all summer I couldn't figure out why I had moths all over. Then one day I saw one crawling out of the bone as I handed it to my dog. I threw that box out. Then on the next box I opened it and a couple weeks later moths started flying out. I checked the bottom and there were worms everywhere. They are IN the bones. I ordered one more box....you guessed it. I'm sure Amazon has numerous warehouses that they are shipping these from but I saw another review where someone was getting bugs in their Milk Bones. It's chock full of bugs. It's not worth saving $2 to feed my dog moth eggs. No thanks. Plus my house is absolutely infiltrated with these disgusting things. Thanks Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dogs eat anything!

So - it's hard to say i know what these things taste like - cause, I'm not eating milkbones, my dog is. BUT they must taste good, cause my dog understands the "treat" concept of this. And she will happily beg, do tricks, and follow you for one of these.

Also - a long time ago I use to depend on these as supplements to cleaning my dog's teeth. Please learn to brush your dog's teeth with these as they were advertised to clean teeth. They still stick in the flaps of your dog's mouth... so please brush in conjunction with assuming this is doing its cleaning.

My dog's breath isn't that bad after eating this - so the breath freshening may be taking place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Milk-Bone is our brand of treats!

My 110 lb dog loves these! I used to buy the higher priced named brand toothbrush type treats for him but he crunched them up immediately and there was no time for them to help clean his teeth. With the large Milk-Bone treats, he actually takes a minute or two to crunch them up, so at least I know he's tasting them. I love the 10 pound box as there is an ample supply on hand and they are much cheaper in the larger container. I'm happy and so is my dog. I'll keep buying them as long as we're both happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars My dog doesn't love them as much as she used to

My dog and I used to love milk bones until this last, recent order. She's a chocolate Labrador and never denies a milk bone. I wonder if the recipe has been changed or the texture? Anyways, they're harder to break apart than they used to be. We've been getting milkbones for about 10 years now. We recently switched over to kirklands lamb & chicken bones. They felt less like brick and cardboard. I'm not sure what happened to milkbones - maybe I just had a box that wasn't sealed or was sitting out for a long time? Anywho, I ended up having to give them to a friend whose dog rarely gets treats so I guess it was a win-win situation. I'll probably order medium sized milkbones this time and see how it works out! Still recommend these though, if you don't brush your pups teeth, these will do that for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stella loves these.
Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2020
Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)Style: LargeVerified Purchase
We adopted Stella in Nov. Our Boston Terrier + Chiweenie both needed being put down in Oct. Our Boston Bull had cancer, that we'd known was needed. Our Chiweenie had nasty teeth + breath + needed over $2,000 was too old to get his oral surgery + @ that age, had him put down also.
2 wks later we adopted Stella. 60lbs + a challenge. Her teeth are perfectly white though. She'd spent 11 months in the shelter. She was instantly Mama's little girl @ 6 yrs old. Our 2 put down were very yippy. Stella doesn't make a noise. Only one bark as a warning. She also knows when we order pizza, giving us her one, warning bark. We love

We didn't know about needed oral care other than give her soft treats + human food.

Now we know better, buying expensive grocery store treats + our, human food.
Now Stella has the whitest teeth. Besides feeding her Milk Bones + every treat now is good for her.

But what really whiteness her teeth was a dog water additive. One capfull per pint of water. We actually found her teeth getting whiter almost immediately. She's spoiled crazy here. Lots of toys, love + treats. She doesn't like other dogs so knew she'd need $3000 fencing ASAP.
She loves her new yard + us. We were told no 2nd dog with her. She's great with humans but will bite any other dog.(BAD doggie.)
I'm 65 + love her to pieces. Gr8 for protection + love
The hubby works nites + we'd had a portrait stolen from our porch. Now instead of a real dog's barking, had our 2 Yippers. At 3am, the thieves actually shined their flash light through our front door @ the 3 of us.

They must've been ticked off upon opening the box, finding only a measly pic. of me as a teen showing Dancer, my Tennessee Walking horse.

With Stella, I think they would've left w/o my pic. of Dancer + me. Her bark can be intimidating + even our 2 Yippers, didn't make a sound back then. They were scared too.

She loves every treat offered to her. I remember eating a Milk Bone when I was 4-5 yrs. We bought Stella the lg sz + she loves EVERYTHING!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great treat for ravenous eaters
Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2015
Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)Style: LargeVerified Purchase
I bought these as a Christmas gift for my roommate's dog. She is a hungry, hungry 2-year old pitbull mix. Most small treats she swallows whole and I always feel like she doesn't really appreciate the treat since she doesn't take time to savor it. These large treats are very crunchy and a good, sturdy size. They take her about 15 seconds to eat and then she snorts up the crumbs and then licks my hands clean of any lingering flavor. Much better than the 1 second it takes her to swallow a small treat. She really seems to love them. They are big enough that sometimes I break them in half and she still gets a decent sized treat.

I may be acting a bit overprotective but since they are very hard bones and her first bite always breaks the bone into several choking sized pieces, I do make sure to watch her eat the entire bone so she doesn't try to swallow a hard/jagged piece whole and get it lodged in her throat. She seems to be smarter than that but I would definitely caution against giving this as a treat and then heading out the door for work before the dog finishes it. You never know. I do the same type of thing with my cats though so maybe I'm just overprotective in general.

Since they are very large, dense and hard I would suggest only getting them for dogs that are both big and strong. If your dog COULD BE considered medium or is an older dog with a weaker jaw, you may want to try the smaller sized treats. For a strong jawed, energetic young pitbull, they are perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reviews are Important to Me...
Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2020
Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)Style: LargeVerified Purchase
I wasn't able to get anything intelligible from either of my three dogs in regards to 'Freshness' or 'Flavor'. However, given how important a review is I did not let them stop me.
I put them in a blender briefly and added them to my 14-year-old boy's Golden Grahams. He wolfed it down so quickly I am not sure if it is a valid test of either category but I'll err on the side of the product. Five stars for Freshness and flavor. Note: It did NOT freshen his breath...
I also chopped them into smaller chunks and dipped them into chocolate for the rest of the family (except myself as I don't want to be biased). They were a huge success in terms of being fresh and the flavor.
As a side note, my wife discovered the testing material after my experiments and I'm in search of a softer couch.
