Directions

To make buttermilk pancakes, follow directions on any pancake mix and substitute reconstituted buttermilk liquid for milk in the recipe. To reconstitute into buttermilk, blend 1/4 cup of powder into an 8 oz. glass of water.

This product is messy to handle in its original packaging. It doesn't taste much like buttermilk, to me, and, when mixed according to package directions, it's much thinner than buttermilk. (The next time I use it, I'll either use less liquid or more powder.) I suppose this is OK to have on hand for extreme emergencies or maybe to take camping, but it's not something I would use regularly.

A Great Convenience Product

My family cornbread recipe includes buttermilk. Buttermilk is rarely used for any other purpose. I live in a rural area miles from the nearest town. It is not always convenient and certainly not cost efficient to make the trip for one item. Using buttermilk that has been frozen is not the same as fresh. Now Foods Buttermilk Powder bridges the quality gap between fresh and frozen. It is much better than frozen with a slight, barely noticeable difference than fresh.

This is a product I recommend and will buy again.

This stuff really works in baked goods. It tastes just like the best fresh buttermilk. I don't buy fresh buttermilk any longer because I don't use enough of it and I wind up wasting too much.
