potential birth defect or reproductive harm. If such chemical is present in a food item why is it being sold? Or why is it even being produced in a way that can cause such bodily harm. I’m not sure I understand it or how high the possibilities are but why would anyone risk their health on a so called healthy food item. We requested for a refund immediately!

I've used Terrasoul raw cacao nibs for a few years in my smoothies, and I decided to try Nativas when I went to reorder after reading some of the reviews. I bought both and did my own taste test at home. So Terrasoul's nibs are fermented which is what makes a HUGE difference. The Nativas nibs are rich and chocolaty, and they have a good mouth feel. There are some larger chunks in the Nativas so it's less uniform. Terrasoul's have a little more consistency in size, but the Terrasoul nibs have a sour note from the fermenting (it's similar to espresso in that regard). I've only had one smoothie with the Nativas nibs so I'm not sure about the entire package, but there seemed to be fewer harder pieces in it than what I find in the Terrasoul nibs. The Terrasoul is priced better, but I think I'm leaning more to the Nativas brand now. Time will tell, but I am happy with both brands for my needs.

I use them for to help with a particular health issue, and they're perfect for that. It seems that the expected nutritional characteristics are there since it really helps my condition.
Also, some reviews say they've been tested for high levels of cadmium; that's the powder, not the nibs, and the cadmium seems to be an industry problem found in many organic and non-organic brands of cocao powder. I would avoid.
Hoping Navitas will keep up the quality, because if it changes, I will update my review accordingly. As of now, there are many negative recent reviews for the two other brands I mentioned about shell (or twigs) in Viva and Healthworks brands.
I wasn't expecting it to be anything like typical chocolate, and I'm not sure why so many people thought it was. The sour/vinegary smell/taste some people so dramatically complain about isn't that strong. It's unusual, and if you weren't expecting the unique smell, or expecting it to smell like milk chocolate, then you might be surprised. It's nutty, it's bitter, but you can taste the chocolate (not the highly sweetened kind but like 90+% dark chocolate).
As for the "shells" that some people complain about, there's some "skin" (not sure exactly what it's supposed to be called) that's still attached to a few of the nibs, but nothing crazy (see picture). It's similar the skin on pistachios and other nuts. I usually take a look at what I grab out of the bag and pick it out. If I missed one or two, which I've probably done already, it probably wouldn't be noticeable.

Received package in 7 days from the day of purchase. (ordered on 5th Feb 2015) The package of Nibs itself (all four of them in one order) had some problem with resealable package part, so I couldn't seal it after opening and needed to put all Nibs to another container.
About the Nibs it's hard to compare with any other same products, but in comparison with Dark Chocolate 90% i prefer good quality Dark Chocolate 90% because it feels more bitter and chocolate on taste than those Chocolate Nibs. I'm just sharing my first impression about this product. Even if I stay with Dark Chocolate in the future, it was interesting to try those Cacao Nibs though :-)
I'm still happy with them because they are organic and have good nutrition with a lot of fiber and protein and zero sugar.
