UPDATE:
I called my internet provider, and was able to split my WiFi network to both 5GHz and 2.4GHz once I did that, I was able to use the product exactly as planned. Feedback to the manufacturer: Please better advertise that the product will only function as expected with a 2.4GHz WiFi ONLY.

Original Post: Product is useless to me. Purchased this with high hopes of controlling my outdoor Christmas lights, but what the product details fail to mention is that if you have a 5 GHz WiFi network, you cannot pair the device on the app essentially rendering it useless. If I could have scored lower, I would have. Extremely disappointed.

Got this for a set of patio lights and setup was fast & easy. Some reviews mentioned you MUST have a 2.5 Ghz Wifi band, and it's even mentioned in the printed instructions however I connected without incident to my Comcast XFiniti through my Orbi Mesh Network which only gives 1 network option (5.0 Ghz). Also connected quickly to Amazon Alexa for added easy of control. The only drawback is that the angled plug/cord made it a little tricky to connect to my outdoor GFCI socket with a weather protector on it. But I removed it, snapped off a piece of removable plastic from the weather guard to allow the cord to drop down and close the cover, and PRESTO! I hope this helps others make an informed decision!

Saw an issue with AirBnB guests turning on the patio lights and leaving the lights on for the duration of their stay. Its a problem for me since this is such a huge waste of electricity and there's no need for the patio lights to be left on throughout the daytime. Bothered me so much to see that the lights were left on and I could do nothing about it.

This product allows you to set a timer to turn off anything that is plugged into it. On my next visit to the AirBnb, I plugged the patio lights into this thing. Now I can remotely manually turn off the light using the app or, just set the timer to turn off at midnight automatically. You can even set multiple timer functions so let's say the group has a late night hangout on the patio, the lights turn off at midnight, they go turn it back on. You can have another "OFF" timer instructions at 2am or 3am and that will turn off the lights again!

Must have different SSIDs for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks

I have a router that automatically supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks with a single SSID. I have devices that are connected via 2.4Ghz and others connected via 5Ghz, all using that single SSID. This plug requires you to rename your networks so you have one SSID for the 2.4Ghz network and a different SSID for the 5Ghz network. Sorry, I'm not going to change my SSID, which will require reconfiguring every device that currently connects to my network. The description does say the plug only supports 2.4Ghz, but must also say there must be a unique SSID specific to the 2.4Ghz network for this plug to work.

These days most Chinese products have little to no documentation. This product IS NOT that. It has excellent documentation and works exactly as documented. Well done. I was also pleased that this is rated for 15 amps. I have two of these with two shop air compressors (the kind you run air tools with). These compressors each pull 13 amps. Since these compressors run in my basement (with the lines plumbed up to my garage), I was worried about an air line breaking and the compressor(s) running indefinitely, overheating, and catching fire. The plan was to buy two of these, for each compressor, and be able to in effect turn the compressors off when I’m done. Works perfect. As a test I opened an air line and ran a compressor for about 30 mins (at the 13 amps), and the smart plug was not only not hot, it was completely cool. There was no indication 13 amps was running through it.

Plug and play, really - easy way to control outdoor lighting

I bought two of these, one for my outdoor stringed lights, another for Christmas lights this past winter.

While I believe this can be used with other 'smart' systems, maybe with google home, alexa and so on - I just downloaded and used their app (Smart Life) and it immediately recognized the devices, was able to rename them (ie, Back Porch Lights) and set a schedule. The scheduling part isn't 100% intuitive but it's not difficult either, and ... I just let them run. Easy as that. No more "did you remember to turn the Christmas lights off".

It also has a manual button to easily override the schedule and just turn it on or off, which has been nice.

Second Smart Plug working great

Setting this up to work with my other smart plugs was very easy. I was happy when my bug zapper came on as expected. Then I looked outside a few hours later and it was out. The switch seemed to click on and off but the power outlet stopped working.

I am sending back for an exchange. If the replacement works I will update my review.

Update 6/10/21:

Changing from 2 star to 5 star review. I returned first unit and replacement unit works perfectly after a few weeks where we had plenty of rain. I use it to turn my bug zapper on at sun down and off a few hours before sunrise. No more forgetting to unplug it and having the bug zapper on all day.

Where it is plugged in definitely gets some water splashing during hard rain storms but it is holding up. Will update review again if things change.

Bought for outdoor Xmas lights. Setup was easy. I tested during the day and everything was working. When the evening came, the lights wouldn't turn on even though the plug itself was responding. After testing the outlet with other devices, I can conclude that this plug wasn't working and is no longer functioning properly. The indicator light does respond but any devices attached to it receives no power. Might want to consider other brands for your needs. Will update if anything changes.

Poor connection - hard to connect to home network

First time it took a while but I was persistent and, after a few attempts, was able to connect it to my IoT. Two days ago, all of sudden, it wouldn’t turn on via Alexa anymore. I tried removing and reinstalling it again without success.
Finally, I’m giving up and returning it - I find it unacceptable these days having to go through all the hustle to connect such a simple device to a home network. I don’t recommend it and wouldn’t buy it again.

Easy to setup, but the product died after just a couple days. Product was still responsive in the app and the button light would go on and off, but no electricity was flowing to the output outlet.
Also the male plug design is not good. The cord is angled to the left and my outdoor outlet covers open to the left, so it was a very very tight fit. Only try this product if your outdoor outlet covers open to the right.

Worst smart plug I’ve ever used. I bought one for the string lights outside my apartment, but it failed at the very first step —> it couldn’t connect to the wifi in my apartment (even when plugged on the power outlet closest to my router). I tried 2G, 5G wifi and it sent an error message. The app is clunky and rendered the product useless and super expensive for a defective product. I received the product late so I couldn’t ask for a refund after finding out it didn’t work.
