Caution: The failure mode of this item may set your house on fire. I have several of these that I use indoors on either a brick fireplace hearth or concrete floor. They have only been used a few months during winter time for three years now. Just by chance I felt the heat coming off one of them and immediately yanked the plug out of the socket- it was about to go nuclear as in a total melt-down. Please see attached photos showing the melted state of that unit. It was very hot to the touch and the faux sheepskin cover was stuck to it in spots-- it was that hot.
This is a very uncomfortable and alarming situation. My solution was both of them went out in the trash. The pets will need to use sunshine or our laps to keep warm.
Otherwise, they did work nice and the pets loved the heat provided. I just want to make sure they also have a house to live in.
