Not a Good Season

I remember watching this on TV yup all of 10 years ago.
I was appalled at the bullying by a number of people led by Gretchen and all intent on sinking Michael who just kept on winning competitions while they tried to tear him down. However, that DID change as Gretchen's support system got eliminated.
What bothered me also about this season well Casanova being eliminated because Michael Kors thought he only designed for old women - UH that's a huge market Michael!! Boomers have cash and we like to spend it. Frankly after that comment and Casanova's elimination the fun of this series disappeared for me and I have not purchased ONE Michael Kors designed item since. My silent protest. Yes 10 years later I am older but sorry I don't wear clothing that you espouse OR make.
I found the designs in general in this Season to be bland, lackluster, no real wow factor except from Casanova and from Mondo. Gretchen's items were IMO terrible and just monochromatic. No fun, flair and just are you serious?? Her jewelry was terrific. The odd part of this is that Michael has become quite the designer and Mondo is successful also. However, be that as it may the bullying that took place and intimations of cheating against one person over and over was just nuts and there should have been a lot of meetings with these designers to knock it off. They were NOT that talented with the exception of 2 and Casanova. He brought light and joy and constantly got slammed by Kors for designing for old ladies which nearly caused him to leave. So no this is NOT my favorite season. I love Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum and admired her for her fight for the hopeful winner. She was quite forceful and frankly spot on. The series as a whole is good, watching budding designers is fun but Nina is dated and so is Kors. They don't understand that more then 20/30 year olds buy clothing.

More fashion; less workroom drama please. Intolerable once Casanova left.

Between Gretchen & Ivy, I felt angry after most of the episodes because of the incessant bullying of Michael C (Casanova should be in every season!). Then when Casanova left, the show went from frustrating to intolerable. Don't the producers realize that the majority of their viewers are adults?
Let us watch the judge-designer discussions and the discussion amongst judges! That's why we all watch--critiques by fashion professionals are something we do not normally have access to and it's really fun to learn about color, print, proportion and silhouette. We can all get as much drama and negativity as we want--at our own workplaces!
Any parents out there planning to force their artistic kids to abandon their dreams should have to watch the end of Episode 14 Part 1 to see what that does to your children!

All these years later, this season is still difficult to watch.

The most unlikable people ever, on Project Runway, seem to be in this season. Ivy (the worst), Gretchen (also the worst) followed by Valerie and at certain points others chimed in. They bullied and insulted Michael C. through the entire season. It was disgusting. I love the fact that Michael C. is the most successful designer (along with Christian Seriano) to come out of PR. I'm sure 10 years later the real hateful ones are still struggling and they deserve it. Besides the fact that the best person did not win this season, most of the designs bored me to death especially the loudest mouth there, Ivy. I love Mondo and Michael C. The drama made it so hard to watch.

"Project Runway" Season 8
-------------------------------------------
Note: mild spoilers below
-------------------------------------------

This season features one of the least talented - or least exciting - design pools to date, with really only one designer whose work was on a creative par with the best contestants of seasons past. And yet, even without much "wow factor," the show was entertaining and engaging to the very last minute - the formula still works. The final choice was a naked, shameful travesty -- we were screaming, throwing things at the TV, but comforting ourselves by muttering that the loser (who was robbed!) will make millions as a celebrity designer, without any doubt.

Some changes and trends this season: the three main judges (Klum, Kors and Garcia) were much, much cattier than in previous seasons (although Heidi softened up a bit by the end) and week after week Heidi appeared in some of the worst clothes she's been in to date. In the parlance of the show, her own personal "taste level" seems pretty suspect these days. A couple of the designer melodramas were quite striking, particularly the "reveal" on contestant Michael Costello, which was one of the most genuinely painful moments I've seen in reality TV. All in all, this was a good, entertaining season - we enjoyed it. (Joe Sixpack, Slipcue.com film reviews)

Too much

Just finished watching an episode per night of Season 8 and ultimately feel quite turned-off by the whole thing. The no-longer amusing bitchiness of Gretchen, Ivy, etc., the arrogance and superciliousness of Michael Kors and much of the manipulation and slickness of the production left us with a certain feeling of time badly spent and having been had. What was really offensive was the sadistic exploitation of poor Michael Costello and his meltdown when he lost - on and on mercilessly humiliating him and us. Ugh! Tim Gunn remains very special and endearing, but it's not enough. Sorry.

BULLYING, NEGATIVE INSTIGATION, AND BACK STABBING IN THE FASHION WORLD!
Verified purchase
Season 8 was as much about bullying and instigating negatively on the job as it was about fashion. Gretchen decided that she thought very little of one of the designers work and all the other designers followed suit. They treated the persecuted designer poorly, not talking to him and telling the judges that he lacked in skills and should not be there (even though he continued to have winning designs that gave him immunity). I watched the entire series and loved ever minute of it. I plan to watch it again!

Project Runway is one of my favorite shows. I was a little disappointed in who won the eighth season & a little too much drama) but the show keep my interested. I watched the show when it was on cable. Like the other seasons, I wanted the DVD. Unfortunately Season 9 and All Stars are not on DVD. Hopefully they will be placed on DVD in the future (hopefully near future).

I received my dvd's in a timely manner. There was a problem which was resolved in a very timely manner.
