This food sickened my puppy...

After using one bag of this food purchased from Amazon without any problems, I ordered two additional bags. Within one day of using the second bag, my puppy became very lethargic, threw up three times and started having diarrhea. By the second day, I stopped using this food, purchased the same food from a local store and went to the vet. Puppy was acting very different from her usual happy, playful self. Vet visit cost over $90 and vet advised not using the food I had purchased from Amazon. When I purchased the food, I didn't bother to check the reviews, after all, this was Purina dog food, a reputable brand. It was only after this issue that when I read the reviews, I realized that this might not be the actual Purina product. Many other reviewers had issues with their purchases as well. I advise that you purchase from a store or website that caters to pets instead. Shame on Amazon for providing an inferior product, this coming from a frequent purchaser!! If I could rate with zero stars, I would.

DON'T buy!!!! I've purchased either 3-4 bags of this dog food for my 6 month old puppy and it had been doing just fine but this last bag of food, within a day or two she started having extreme diarrhea and throwing up. I was hoping it was just a bug and that it would pass but it didn't. Upon reading I decided to switch her to white rice and boiled chicken to form her stools while waiting to get into the vet, after $130 bill later, she was given antibiotics as a preventive since they couldn't get a stool sample (she was that dried up) and some FortiFlora probiotics and still on the rice meal. Gradually started to give her the Purina when she was at the tail end of her antibiotics and bam the diarrhea came back. Tired of cleaning explosive diarrhea kennels numerous times I decided to take her back to the vet, this time $200 later from tests ran on her. So I looked up previous reviews of this dog food and sure enough found the problem. After inspecting the bag of dog food (which is hard when its 34 pounds) found mold on pieces of food, and what looked like dried dirt or feces in the bag and immediately being disgusted chunked what I found. However, after thinking saving the rest of the half of the bag to be returned. I'm not sure if Amazon would even want the junk back but I definitely want my money back after all the vet bills when it was simply her food... listen to the "bad batch of food" people because its definitely true!!! Lets just hope amazon does the right thing and give me my money back for my sick puppy!--Amazon did refund me my money.

No Legumes in This is Important!!

After buying into the "grain-free" poppycock and having two dogs with DCM on TOTW, I kept my new pup on PPP, which is also what her breeder feeds.
Studies are showing dogs on some grain-free formulas are getting DCM in greater numbers, even breeds not genetically predisposed. While grain-free per se is probably not the culprit, researchers believe it may have something to do with the legumes and potatoes the dog food companies added instead of more meat, to keep the protein levels up but costs down. These ingredients are suspected to possibly reduce the amount of taurine available to the dog, thereby causing or exacerbating heart disease. Note: If this is accurate, adding taurine to foods with legumes and potatoes would be moot, which is how some companies have responded.
Purina uses nutritionists and their own feeding trials rather than copying others, as smaller companies do. I would not recommend ALL their formulas, but this Pro Plan puppy is excellent, producing shiny coat and small stools.

Three bags contained spongy / bloated water swollen kibble.

I have been purchasing Purina Pro Plan puppy dog food for the past 18 months without any issues. However, in the last 2 months I've received three bags of food that can only be described as having water damaged kibble. Three bags contained spongy / bloated water swollen kibble. Upon opening the kibble immediately gives off a stale / putrid odor; again, all kibble pieces were swollen in size and spongy.

This sort of issue seems more indicative of a manufacturing or storage quality control issue than anything else. Packaged food was received in-person and stored inside a climate controlled office for less than 2-3 hours before opening. I opened the box and unpacked both bags from original shipping box, and both bags were dry and free of any obvious damage; no holes or punctures evident.

After serving this dog food to my dog we sat down and had a heart to heart talk. She was very about the fact that she liked this dog food. She said the flavor was the first thing that caught her attention. Then she said that after reading the label and seeing the good ingredients, including probiotics, she was pleased that I was so concerned for her health. She has thanked me several times for buying this dog food. If your dog wants to talk to my dog, her cell number is "woof" (repeated 7 times - she doesn't have an area code...apparently that is a thing with dog cell phones).

This dig food has bugs and worms in it puppy or adult . When i called purina they said it was not there fault and that the bugs get in there during shipping . But not to Worry it’s not a parasite 🥺whether this is bought on Amazon or any other store I’ve seen bugs in it I have returned it several times but it keeps reoccurring so I think it’s in the process where its made! With that said NOvmore for my dogs! I have had dogs my whole life I am 55 years old and I have never seen a bug and worms in dog food!🤮

I have been feeding my puppy Pro Plan Puppy food since we brought her home from the breeder. We have had no deviation from Pro Plan. However, from the day I started feeding this particular bag to my puppy, she started having very bad diarrhea. For several days I couldn't figure out what was making her ill. Then I decided to change her food - and by the next day her bowel movements began to be more solid.

I decided to search online to see if others had similar experience and was appalled to find SEVERAL instances where people had ordered the larger back of Pro Plan puppy food from Amazon and their dogs had become violently ill. At what point does this get pulled from Amazon's inventory?!!

I will NOT be ordering dog food from Amazon again.
