I have two primary uses for it and it does each very well:
1) Removes the dingy, as promised.
2) Helps to remove laundry scent from second hand clothes. I buy most of my kids clothes on consignment and they often smell like stinky detergent/dryer sheets. If you (or a family member) are allergic to those scents and need to remove the smells, this is the stuff for you! It really works well. I do two washes with the RLR and some fragrance free dish soap and the scent will be gone.
THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT TO REMOVE SMOKE AND ARTIFICIAL PERFUME SCENTS.
Vinegar and oxygen cleaners might be able to break down organic funk, but anyone with scent allergies knows that fabric softener and other awful perfumey smells often seem to "cook" into fabric and refuse to budge. I've ruined some garments by laundering them countless times... and still the stink persisted.
But no longer! RLR *actually* gets those worst offenders out of your laundry, so you can safely use those Poshmark and Mercari bargains, or that thrifted gem, without ripping your garments to pieces. I always try to have a stash of this on-hand.
For the workout clothes, I wanted to "see" it work so I soaked a few shirts and a few shorts in the sink with about a quarter of the packet. The water was a disgusting murky brown/gray after just a few minutes. I then washed them with the rest of the packet (plus my regular detergent) and a few other work out items in the wash (cold water). They all came out perfect. There was no color transfer or loss, the musty smell was gone, and the material felt a little different (in a good, clean way). Both the soaked and non-soaked items came out the same.
For the towels, I had some that had that smell that comes from not letting them dry fully. You know that smell that never goes away?? I was going to toss them but figured I would try this stuff first - and you know what?! It worked! I used warm water with a full packet and laundry detergent. I chose the extra rinse cycle. My towels came out without that smell, had no color transfer and no loss of absorbency.
I highly recommend this item.
Here's the situation: I bought 32 wonderful organic workhorse fitted diapers from Green Mountain diapers. I love them and I used the size large for one year on my son. I never had any problems with stink or anything else. But then, because I am incapable of leaving well enough alone, I decided to mess with the amount of detergent I was using on the new set of extra large diapers I was no using.
Within a few weeks, I started having a really gross barnyard smell. I washed with tide, I stripped following every instruction on every website that I could find on Google, I soaked overnight in Oxy Clean, I did bleach soaks, I used the sanitize cycle repeatedly, I washed using bleach, and no matter what I did, when the diapers came out of the dryer, they smelled like barnyard.
I called the owner of green Mountain diapers and asked her what she would recommend at this point. She recommended RLR I am so I ordered some here on Amazon hoping it would be the final solution.
The bad news is, there was an error in delivery and the item arrived to me 16 days later than the expected delivery date. So that stinks. But! Guess what doesn't stink! My diapers!
I soaked them overnight in RLR. In the morning, I washed them without detergent and dried them. No. More. Stink!
Yeah!!!!
We soaked the diapers in very hot water and prior to adding the RLR to the water, we dissolved two packets in boiling water. We added them to the diapers and let them sit for about six hours. We then rinsed them until the water was clear. Voila! Our diapers worked just as they had before with no repelling! Trust and believe you should use this product. It works quite well.
