In addition, the screws did not come with the box. I was disappointed and tried to get the seller to send the screws but they said they didn't have them and wanted ME to go to the manufacturer direct to get them sent. Well, if I had that much time on my hands, I wouldn't be ordering online, would I? In the end we went to the hardware store and just got a few compatible screws, but I was very resentful of having to make that effort.
I thought about sending it back but it's such a big item and would require disassembly, fitting back into the box (which was beat up when it arrived), and then going to the post office... again... who has the time? Amazon is usually pretty good with these things but every now and then you get a dud seller I suppose.
My son loves the little caboose trunk!
All parts were provided, although we did not find the screws initially. After checking the box several times, without finding the screws required, we purchased replacements, assembled it, and brought it to the birthday party. When collapsing the box for recycling. We discovered the bag of screws; they must have been tucked under the bottom flap. So, if you think you are missing the screws, be sure to take the box apart.
It seems to work ok for a small two-year-old who has not yet figured out pedals. Not sure it would be good if you have a large two-year-old. Would give it 4 stars if the description was accurate.
We did not realize initially that the grownup who put it together neglected to put the screws in. Christmas over, box gone, screws gone! Is there a possibility that we can get more screws? The local hardware store was not helpful. Please!
First off our boy is pretty well coordinated for an almost 2 year old. He is definitely adept at scooting- but scooting has not worked well so far with this trike because the back wheels are in the way of his legs as he tries to scoot, i.e. as he pushes with one leg, the back wheel on the other side hits his other leg and stops the trike. He's learning to push in a coordinated way with both legs to avoid this, but a trike with the back wheels farther back would work better.
Second, the front wheel doesn't spin freely - there is a lot of friction. Maybe that is good for little kids to self limit their speed, but I think it is making it harder for our son to learn to pedal since it probably takes more power to get the wheels moving. Maybe he just isn't coordinated enough yet, but it seems like this doesn't help.
Third, if I were going to purchase another trike I would get one of the radio flyer models that has pedals AND the adult push handle in the back. I think that makes it easier to give a helping hand as the child learns to pedal.
All of this said, our son LOVES this bike and always wants to play with it despite these issues. He loves that it has a trunk he can put toys in also.
Lastly, buy this from your local big box store or Target on line. Amazon doesn't carry it directly and the resellers on here I discovered after purchasing are marking up the price significantly.
Update 2018: was fun for our son to walk around with but we found the pedals didn’t really work because the wheels just don’t roll easily enough for a toddler to get this moving. We eventually got a Skuut balance bike that our son learned to ride with.

Tested it with other kids and youngest that could really ride it was a 4 year old.
