I've tooled around with writing in one form or another my entire life. Whether it was pushing keys on a typewriter when I was four, writing embarrassing poetry in high school, or working as a freelance journalist.

Now, I'm a moonlighter. I come home at night, I lock myself in the basement office of my house, and I whip up exhilarating stories that keep people reading late into the night.

And I've loved every minute of it!

Action packed series

Action is fine but something about
Barrett Mason that makes this work.
All his foibles and misdeeds and passion
for survival give us a flawed character
that we root for and because we root
for him the implausible action is rationalized
as believable.

I really like the plots of this book and the series. I am somewhat put off by some of the grammatical and editorial errors. On the whole, I found the errors easy enough to overcome so as to enjoy the plots and many of the characters.

Once again...Barrett and Libby save the day! (With a little help from their friends.)

This is the latest installment in the Barrett Mason stories…and well worth the wait! (Just so you know, Barrett is a Texan born and bred.) Barrett, Libby, and Kejal are living in Brussels and in the process of setting up Mason and Mason, a Private Investigation business when Huff shows up with an offer for Barrett that he can’t refuse. So Huff and Barrett are off to Spain to find and save Anna, a “lady friend” of Huff’s that has been kidnapped. They find and save her only to find out that the three of them have been reported “killed by enemies of the USA.”

Libby and Kejal are almost murdered and that’s when Libby finds out that Barrett is dead so she is off to Spain to find him/his body. She discovers that Barrett, Huff and Anna are not dead. Carolina (from Caracas in a previous story) and Libby find the trio but Huff and Barrett are in very bad shape. It isn’t until almost the end of the story that we find out what this whole mission has been about and who is setting them up! (Will we find out the real head of this cabal? Maybe next time?)

If you are a fan of this series of stories this is certainly a “can’t miss” read. I am thinking that even if you haven’t read the others in the series this could be read as a “stand-alone” story and still make sense and the action and excitement are definitely not to be missed!

Another Thrilling Read Where Once Again It’s Up To “Barrett” To Set Thing Right

“Red Star” is a superbly written tale by an author who, simply stated, continues to develop the characters created from “Matador” book one in the series, as well as those whom he added in books two through 5. Please bear with me now while I get “Amazon’s required disclaimer” out of the way.

I am an Advanced Copy Reader, and as such I received a “FREE” copy of this book, “Red Star” in exchange for my promise to write and post an “HONEST” review, I was neither offered nor did I accept any other consideration to influence my review. This is an HONEST Review.”

Stewart Matthews’ “Red Star” is a “thriller”. It hooks one from its beginning and carries one forward page after page, after page. It is quite difficult to set aside once started. Politics, politicians, and terror and terrorists all play major roles in the most complex book, so far, in this series.

I do not do spoilers. So. What you’ve read, (if you’ve read it), is what you get. Read the “Author’s book description” if you need more, I found it totally accurate in describing what I found between the pages.

Yes. I HIGHLY Recommend “Red Star”. It is a book worth reading.

Barrett is Barrett and it's the best installment yet!

Barrett Mason is settling nicely into his new life as a Brussels private investigator with his lovely wife Libby and daughter Kejal. Along comes Colonel Huss to turn his world upside down. Action, adventure, mystery and mayhem follow in the very fine addition to the Barrett Mason series. Barrett is Barrett, doing what Barrett does, and aren't we lucky! As usual, with this series and this author, I was not disappointed. There is a thread of current events, which makes it even more relatable. Something like this scenario could happen, maybe is happening somewhere in the shaded areas of government. We catch up with a character from a previous book. And Barrett is the guy who really wants to leave his past behind and it just won't let him go. I do recommend this book and this author.

Barrett Mason Comes Back From The Dead

Well, not exactly. He was reported as dead, Libby thinks he’s dead, and Barrett can’t let them know he’s not dead. It all starts when Dr. Anna Miles, the US Deputy Secretary of Energy is kidnapped in Barcelona. The terrorist want our nuclear secrets and Dr. Miles is the keeper of those secrets. Barrett is asked by Colonel Huss to help him rescue her. All is not as it seems, though, and soon the three are running for their lives in an attempt to avoid the terrorist cell and the people who want them dead.

Red Star is another rough and tumble adventure for Barrett, an exciting and thrilling read from beginning to heart-pounding end.

Barrett, his wife, Libby, and his adopted daughter Kejal are now living in Brussels while running his new private investigation company. Unfortunately, predicting another "adventure", his former boss Huff shows up offering Barrett a new job. Huff relates that the Deputy Secretary of Energy was kidnapped by a supposed communist group in Spain. Then Huff and Barrett are off on their mission to find and rescue the woman.

Their adventure has many surprises that unfold in one great story that you need to read.

Besides, I love this series even though Mason and I are native-born Texans.

This Barrett Mason book is a home run. It is full of action and suspense. Lots of twist and turns. Barrett is done with working against terrorist so he opens up his own office but then Buff comes asking for his help and he can't say no to Huff. Now starts the book. I love getting the story from everyone's point of view it makes the book so much better. This is a must read.
