It’s hard to follow the instructions - one would think that if a Chinese company wants to sell to customers in the US, they would consult an English speaker when writing their instruction manual. They could also spend another few cents to print the instructions in a font a bit larger than a 6.
As for the remote functionality, the channel select buttons work, which is the reason I bought it, also the fast forward and backward functions work, and so far I have discovered that the volume buttons don’t work.
Product Description
Pairing Automatically (If automatically pair failed, pls pair it manually via "Fire TV" app or original fire stick remote):
1. Restart the Fire Stick, once fire stick is on main menu wait for 1 minute;
2. Hold Home button until red light flashing quickly. Now your smart remote is in pairing mode;
3. When the red light turns off, the pairing succeeds.
How to pair manually by Fire TV APP:
1. Download the "Fire TV" APP;
2. Log in the same account as your Fire Stick, and then connect with your Fire Stick, now you can control your fire TV by mobile;
3. Go to Fire TV Setting, and choose Controllers Devices;
4. Go to Amazon Fire TV Remotes and Add New Remote;
5. Hold HOME button until red light flashing, and now the smart remote is in pairing mode;
6. When red light off, pairing success.
Pairing manually by original fire stick remote:
1. Go to Fire TV Setting, and choose Controllers & Devices;
2. Go to Amazon Fire TV Remotes;
3. Go to Add New Remote;
4. Hold HOME button of smart remote until red light flashing, and now the smart remote is in pairing mode;
5. The smart remote name will be displayed in the search list, click Connect;
6. When red light off, pairing success.
How to set Power button IR Learning:
1. Press the VOL+ and VOL- buttons of this remote at the same time to open IR Learning mode, the LED will be from OFF to long lighting;
2. Make the two remotes top to top, press power button once of smart remote, the LED keep blinking, then press power button of TV remote until the LED of smart remote flash 3 times quickly. This means programming is successful and automatically saved;
3. Press the VOL+ and VOL- buttons of the smart remote at the same time once to exit programming mode;
4. Now you can use this remote to control your TV to turn on and off.
Caution: TV remote and smart remote must use New battery!!! and smart remote head must point to TV remote Infrared Emitter.
How to set Volume+ button IR Learning:
1. Press the VOL+ and VOL- buttons of this remote at the same time until the LED from OFF to long lighting;
2. Make the two remotes top to top, press volume+ button once of smart remote, the LED keep blinking, then press volume+ button of TV remote until the LED of smart remote will flash 3 times quickly. This means programming is successful and automatically saved;
3. Press the VOL+ and VOL- buttons of the smart remote at the same time once to exit programming mode;
4. Now you can use this remote to control your TV volume+.
You can program button Volume- as above ways.
