Battery Use Update: Still making me happy. I probably use my mouse as much as anybody. I do a LOT online every day - pay bills, balance my checkbook, ALL my shopping including groceries, email, a few word games every day and tons and tons of research daily. I'm a confessed information junkie. I am using rechargable Amazon Basics batteries and I just changed batteries for the second time yesterday - since end of November. Averages out to about one battery change every 7 weeks. Works for me.

Bought this Rii mouse when the left click button on my previous mouse died after just one month of use. I had to limp along for a week with no left click, which I use a lot. Very annoying. (That mouse was a different brand, purchased elsewhere and cost more.)
So I was apprehensive about this one since it was so inexpensive. However, I've been using it for just over 2 weeks and have had no problems.
My personal preference is for one AA battery for the ease of changing it. This Rii takes 2 AAAs, but insertion is easier than other AAA mice I have used. I haven't had to change batteries yet, so don't know how long they last. Opening the battery compartment is a royal pain, so hoping not to have to change batteries often. It "sleeps" automatically, fairly quickly - don't know exact interval. Guessing maybe 5 minutes or so of non use. Easy to wake it up, I just tap it on the mouse pad and good to go. My previous mouse had a switch to manually turn off and wake up, Not a fan of that.
This mouse is smaller than most I have used. But fits in my hand very comfortably. I am very happy with it and plan to slip another one into my next Amazon order to keep on hand for backup looking forward to the day this one eventually expires.
.
1. The spot to store the USB widget when you are not using it is located inside the battery compartment. This is especially annoying when you read #2 on this list.
2. The battery compartment is very difficult to open. It does not just slide open as most wireless mice do; it requires a good fingernail or a letter opener to pry it open each time. (The second time I opened mine, part of the plastic broke.)
3. It takes two AAA batteries. (This may not be a big deal for most of you, but every other mouse I own as well as my wireless keyboards all run on AA batteries.)
4. If I stop using it for a minute and then try to use it again, it will not work until I click the button once or twice.

This particular mouse runs all over the screen when you're trying to move it around, and it is definitely not the speed settings of the mouse.
I am guessing I just got one that wasn't really up to par but I would say others just like it would be fine.
I probably should ask for a replacement of this one, but I would just save it for emergencies or whatever.
It's just too aggravating to send things back, at least it is for me, and I don't like to complain unless I absolutely have to.
This thing is the price of a hamburger and fries. If that. It's so inexpensive as to be laughable.
And for that price, it has absolutely no business looking and feeling and weighing and working as much like the old Apple bluetooth keyboard as it does. No, it's not up to the same quality standards in the end, but you actually do have to look at it for a while to tell that. And the typing experience is very, very good.
And whether it's up to Apple standards or not, it's *far* better in quality than many of the old generic keyboard from the PC days that cost five times as much. And it's wireless.
For this price, I was expecting, essentially, cut-rate junk. I bought it for the kids to go with their tablets and do grade school essays with, figuring that since they're not really touch typists at this stage, and will complain about homework no matter what, it's no loss if it's a disposable, hard-to-use keyboard.
But no, it's really a real keyboard. For real! And quite a good one at that! I mean, I'd use it for work at my own Mac if I didn't already have an Apple bluetooth keyboard sitting here. Like, I wouldn't hesitate, and I wouldn't be secretly pining away to replace it.
I don't see how anyone can rate this anything other than five stars, considering that the Apple bluetooth keyboard costs nearly ten times as much and frankly doesn't offer all that much more in terms of heft or usability.
It's a smaller size, but it's great for using with my laptop when I'm traveling or not using a docking station.
I like that the usb dongle stores under the battery door. I've lost others that only insert into a slot in the mouse, or I've had others that had no storage for the usb dongle.
I also like that it has an on/off button on the bottom, really helps to save the battery, in addition to the sleep mode. I've had others that when stored in my laptop bag, the buttons would get pressed as I traveled activating the mouse and draining the batteries.
