Firstly, the TVs I received are not what is pictured. The buttons are now on the right side of the TV ,the logo is on the bottom, and the power light is in the bottom right corner.
The TV tuners are better than most as far as reception, but even at a supposed resolution of 1080, there is a "screen door" effect that you would see on older 720P panels.
When hooked to a PC at 1080p, text is hard to read. Black text shows as blue, and has a shadow effect. The same goes for the mouse cursor, its fuzzy, shadowed, and tinted cyan. This was not limited to one computer, or video card brand. IT took substantial time to calibrate the displays to make it them somewhat tolerable. Text is a little easier on the eyes at 720p, but I bought these for 1080p screen real estate. I cant use them to display text such as a message board or calendar, the quality is simply too bad.
Its seems as if Sceptre uses 720p panels with 1080p electronics, and down-convert to 720p. I'm tempted to pull one apart to confirm...
The audio quality is a little tinny, but there is an equalizer that helps with this.
The power light is an obnoxiously bright blue light, and despite several menu features, there is no way to turn it off. I'l have to resort to black tape.
In conclusion... at $109 these arent a bad value for the person looking for a bedroom TV, but I would suggest spending 40 bucks more if you want true 1080P quality. For my security camera DVR @ 1080p, it looks good. For a PC, its awful. For OTA TV, they do the job.
