Sebastian Maniscalco: Aren't You Embarrassed?

 (1,456)
7.91 h 2 min201418+
Sebastian Maniscalco returns home to Chicago to perform in front of a live, sold-out audience and asks "Aren't You Embarrassed?" With his inimitable delivery, he skewers modern-day society through the lens of his old-world Italian-American upbringing. No topic is off-limits - but perhaps we all should be just a little embarrassed.

Bring Kleenex...I cried laughing!

Sebastian? "What kind of Sicilian/Italian name is that?" I asked myself after watching this very, very, very funny guy who spends some significant time talking about his Sicilian/Italian roots. Turns out the name Sebastian is Greek in origin, however, there is a Saint Sebastian and I'd venture a guess this smart, funny, "your-family-roots-are-important" guy used this intentionally in his routine (I won't say how...maybe you'll get it). So what do I really like about Sebastian Maniscalco (trying saying that 3 consecutive times..LOL), I love comedians who talk about family in a fun-loving, huggable, "its your family" way...and although this is a small part of Maniscalco comedy, it's a very funny, loving, skit. Also a pet-peeve, I really appreciate comedians who rely on THEIR OWN (prepared) COMEDY skit to do their job of entertaining, instead of picking on the audience. I feel picking out/on someone in the audience is cheap-weak-untalented fall-back for comedians who can't get a rhythm or make a connection with the audience based on THEIR OWN (prepared) COMEDY skit. Not to worry here, Sebastian Maniscalco is funny, demonstrative, almost interactive with the audience; he also seems so sincere in his bit of "neurosis" about "what's acceptable behavior...IN PUBLIC" and why one you might want to feel embarrassed about/by somethings. Sebastian Maniscalco might be a challenging name to say three times in a row, yet I would have no problem watching this very, very, very funny guy 3 times in a row ...while rolling in laughter. peace.

Great comedian!

Hilarious ! Everything about his delivery is great. Uses his body (physical comedy), facial expressions and voice to make for a unique set. No one like him. So refreshing to find a comedian who can be hilarious without relying on profanity or resorting to raunchy talk about sex. Pure comedy.

Although I agree with his views (how do people find the time to write reviews or why), feel compelled to give him credit for his excellence. Saw his "What's Wrong With People" and "Why Would You DoThat?" both equally funny. Want to see more of him!

COVID19 Discovery

I discovered Sebastian Maniscalco during COVID's self isolation in NYC, and I admit, his comedy was the only thing that brought me to laugh out load with hearty belly laughs and tears. The cathartic release of stress and a break from the crazy of that time was just what I needed, when I needed it the most. Binged on everything I could find from him for days, sometimes multiple times. Totally worth it. Mostly clean comedy, observational, relatable. PS. Puertorricans also use Vick's to heal everything. And, try Sephardic and Israeli cuisines, they are quite tasty, unlike what it is eaten during Passover seders. Thank you Sebastian for sharing your gifts to the world.

Great comic.

Full disclosure; my father was from Italy (Sebastians' is from Sicily), and my father was a hairdresser just like Sebastian's. Listening to much of his skit is like listening to my family history! Great skits, he blends physical comedy perfectly, and his observations of us humans is spot on!

The Italian Dane Cook - for those who like style over substance and/or right-leaning fake, machismo
Verified purchase
Forced comedian who wows people with made-up accent, flamboyant style and false machismo. If you like actual intellect and wit then skip this guy. His attire, tan, looks and stories mean something to a shallow crowd...or possibly those who think he flicks his nose at liberal PC crowd and harkens back to a^^ pinching 1950s manhood. It is an act and thinly veiled. You have to choose to be fooled into thinking he is brilliantly funny. He is not.
