Inspired by the warm, frothy, nostalgic memories of our childhood sipping Mexican hot chocolate, we bring you Grain Free Mexican Chocolate Cookies. Made with a blend of almond flour, cocoa, a dash of cinnamon, and phantom hot-chocolate-mustaches (okay, that’s not really as much an ingredient as the spirit and heart of these cookies, but you get the idea), these crunchy, rich chocolate cookies take us back. Imagine: the smell of buñuelos, pan dulce, conchas, and arroz con leche all wafting together from the kitchen, where grandma is stirring a huge pot of melted chocolate and cinnamon sticks. Just as she ladled out her hot chocolate into smaller mugs for her loved ones to sip on, we share these bite-size, Abuela Approved chocolate cookies, for you and your family to snack on.

The cookies are small, but that's totally fine. I found them crunchy with a nice chocolate and slight cinnamon flavor. The texture (and size per cookie) is comparable to a tin of butter cookies but a little bit more sandy and not buttery (and slightly smaller cookie size). That might not sound appealing, but they really do taste great to me for a super healthy version of a regular chocolate cookie.
If you are addicted to sugar, these might not be sweet enough for you. However, if you are searching for a hint of sugar and miss having cookies because you are eating healthy... these are definitely for you. Assuming one is able to maintain decent portion control, these are nice and light... perfect for diabetics, low-carbers, and keto peeps who really miss having a crunchy cookie in their life but don't want to mess with their eating plans or aggravate health conditions and be sick from sugar/gluten and suffer with high blood sugar, inflammation, leaky gut, candida and all the rest that normal cookies bring. I could see folks on keto eating two cookies with a cup of tea as a treat without going out of ketosis.
So, I highly recommend in moderation. Also, these are too expensive to eat any other way. The fact that they aren't overly sweet but just sweet enough will also help me control myself. I wanted to eat more than three because they taste good, but I also felt satisfied stopping there and it isn't triggering cravings. GET THESE.
These are so so good
Since Amazon doesn't directly sell this (through Third Party Sellers), perhaps consider ordering direct from the makers of this cookie as theirs will be the freshest batch. As these don't have preservatives, you want to stretch out a bag as long as possible beyond the expiration date. (We keep ours in the freezer)
